UPDATE: CURSE STRIKES AGAIN While at the game today whispers started going around that Robbie Hummel the missing piece to get us to the final four last year in hoops had torn his acl AGAIN, and unfortunately it was confirmed true. A few people via twitter sent me a msg, I got it on my phone, thanks a lot guys! Anyway, While this is bad news for Boiler Nation, it's devasting news for an amazing STUDENT athlete, that nobody including opposing coaches ever talk bad about. My heart breaks for him, and I hope whatever happened if he went too soon, if the surgery went bad, if rehab didn't work it gets worked out and he can play a full season next year, this kid doesn't deserve. While it hurts our chances, don't count us out we have two potential All Americas and pro players, an incoming Freshman that's a flat out stud, we'll be fine, but I sure hope Hummel is because he deserves it. Wow, the season is at the halfway mark it's so hard to believe, and while the Boilers at 3-2 aren't where i'd like them to be considering all we've been through I will take it. Lets recap last week shall we, as the Boilers traveled to Evanston and defeated the previously undefeated Wildcats on their homecoming 20-17 with a gutsy win. Now it's our homecoming and we face a struggling Minnesota team that at times has shown can play with anyone but struggles to finish the job. Lets hope the Boilers put the pedal down and don't look back shall we? The game is a Noon kickoff on ESPN2.

Guest picking with me this week is Travis, who is a Nebraska Cornhusker fan. I am now a new Husker fan, I have never disliked them, but they are now our brothers as next season they will join the Big Ten conference. I think inviting them was a great move, and I can't wait til the Boilers get a chance to face off with the Big Red(which will be at least 2 years). Onto the picks

Phats- I don't like Toledo BLAH and their male cheerleaders looked like they drove vans with no windows if you get my drift, but they will beat the Flashes after a rough trip to Boise

Travis- Boise fans are quacking that their team deserves a shot to play in the big game, but it is only a matter of time before my Huskers pass them in the standings. Nevertheless Broncos win this one 48-17

Phats- Boise State appears to be headed for a number 1 ranking in the first BCS poll, the question is how long til their freefall? Everyone in America seems to be rooting against Boise, sorry to tell you all they will be sticking around for awhile

Travis- Michigan State is playing like Saban is still their coach, but do they suffer from a hangover after downing their state rivals. I don't think so. Mich St 31- Illinois 21

Travis- A&M has lost 2 straight to tough opponents. Missouri is undefeated but hasn't played anybody. A&M proves it pays to play a real schedule A&M 31 - Mizzou 17

Phats- This is a tough one, I agree with Travis Missouri really hasn't played anyone at all, but they are still undefeated. Playing at A&M is tough and that will be the clincher in this upset special.

Travis- Logic says Tech doesn't have enough for the cowpokes in this one, but Okalhoma State got lucky against A7M a few weeks back and they could be thinking ahead to the nebraska game. I going for Tech in the upset at home. Tech 37-OSU 31

Phats- Did anyone see Tech's pathetic attempt at an onside kick get returned for a TD in their game vs Baylor, that was hilarious! That aside, I like the Cowboys to get a big win in Lubbock, in thrilling fashion

Phats- Is Auburn ever going to lose a close game?! Man they have gotten some great bounces in the past couple of weeks, and they have to be on cloud 9 that Alabama lost before them. I like Auburn to pull out another squeaker.

Ohio State Buckeyes at Wisconsin Badgers
Travis- Ohio State struggled in their only other road game this year and Wisconsin is a tougher opponent, but Ohio State finds a way to hold onto that #1 ranking Buckeyes 24 Badgers 20

Phats- Buckeyes celebrate their new #1 ranking with a trip to one of the toughest places in the country to play, Madison. This will be the Bucks first real test of the season, and they will win mark my words. Tressell never seems to lose these kind of games he usually loses to someone he's not suppose to IE Purdue last year! :) Buckeyes pull away late

Phats- Texas has not looked good this year, and the Huskers have. Plus they are playing for big picture of getting into the National Title talk, even beating a down Texas team gets them in that discussion. Huskers roll at home

Minnesota Golden Gophers at Purdue Boilermakers(me)
Travis- Not enough D for the Gophers to dig out of their losing streak, especially on the road. Purdue 30 Minnesota 21

Phats- Well, a homecoming game against the last place conference team. However, this year's Boilers can't take anything for granted, as i'd like to see a quick start and a strong finish. Last week vs Northwestern we were 1 dimensional with basically an entire running attack, this week I want to see Henry throw some more so teams can't key on the run. Boilers get closer to the magic number of 6 with a homecoming victory. BOILER UP...... HAMMER DOWN
