Pretty good Sunday
Hey guys
I am asking a big favor at the end of this so please either skip down to the bottom if you don't like sports, or read the whole thing :)
I had a pretty good Sunday, and a busy one so that's why this entry is a little late. A very good friend of college was in town visiting her parents so she asked me to come over and meet her husband. So that was a lot of fun, I haven't seen her since 2001 seems like forever ago. It was good to catch up, she did graduate school at Brown, so yeah I feel stupid. Her husband was super cool so it was nice. Her family lives in Carmel, so after I left them I headed over to see my sister and brother-in-law and my three nephews. My sister and I are super close so it was a nice visit we chewed the fat, she gave me some books to read that she finished, and apparently I looked hungry because her one son gave me an apple ha! Her husband sometimes goes to the Purdue games with me, and he's a great guy I am so thankful my sister and him found each other. Then I came home and watched one of my favorite shows The Amazing Race, and now I am blogging. Anyone do anything fun today?

My Boilers lost 16-3 to nationally ranked Ohio State at the Horseshoe on Saturday. I am not mad, disappointed, or even sad. If you watched the game you would know why. For starters our Defense that has at times looked really bad, held OSU without an offensive touchdown. Infact if you take away the blocked punt for a TD nobody would have scored a touchdown Saturday. We actually played well and it gives me confidence going into the back half of the season of games that are ALL winnable. Big one this week at Northwestern.
We found a kicker! Joe Tiller didn't have the balls to yank Curtis Painter, but he did yank our kicker and replaced him with a true Freshman. Missed his first kick a 53 yarder, and came back to make his second a 52 yarder which tied a school record, pretty cool for that kid!
Mackey Magic, our version of midnight madness is this Friday, and I couldn't be more excited. They haven't done it at Purdue in sometime, but with the excitement surrounding both the men and womens teams this year they brought it back. Some publications have us in the top 5! They chose to tie it in with the nationally ranked volleyball team, they will play Wisconsin then afterwards the festivities will start. We are expecting big things this year, and you can just feel the excitement in the air.
Football Observations
Most Impressive Saturday that's a no brainer Texas! It looked awfully bleak early for the Horns, but they got jump started by a kickoff return and wow that was a great game. Cheryl do you have a voice? I have never been a fan of Texas and I am not sure why, maybe it's their retarded cheerleading outfits.
Texas rightfully should be the #1 team in the nation. My thoughts are if you beat #1 when you are top 5 you become #1. Back in the year we won the Womens national title in hoops we beat #1 Tennessee and we were #5 and immediately became top dog. I think that's fair. Here is my top 5
1- Texas, 2- Alabama 3- Penn State 4- USC 5- Oklahoma. Cheryl and Gary are you two going nuts over a possible UT/Bama title game???
How much did both Missouri and LSU blow it Saturday? I would not have been one bit surprised if they had won that both could have jumped an idle Bama team.
Penn State will play for the national title if they win out mark my words. They are currently 3, the Big Ten doesn't have a championship game the SEC and Big 12 do, I don't see either Bama or Texas winning out look out for Joe Pa and the Nitts!
Texas Tech is overrated and proved my point Saturday. They barely escaped an OT game with a bad Nebraska team(sorry travis). They will be exposed even more when they step up in competition sorry Jef and Fuzz!
Alright now I have a big favor to ask all of you. The Athlon Spirit Contest is underway again, basically they take 8 cheerleaders and you vote for your favorite. A friend of mine, Lindsay, is entered from Purdue. Now I know you all have your favorite conferences I am asking you to put that aside and vote for Lindsay, and Jef don't vote for the girl with the biggest boobs I know how you operate. Yes, I am OFFICIALLY GOING NUTS!!!! Nothing would make me happier than to have a Texas-Bama title game!!!!!! It would be madness in our household; I can already see the HUMONGOUS party. It would be awesome!!!
Texas played great! That had to be the best game of the season so far. I did yell a little bit! (LOL)
I am not upset at all about Bama being leapfrogged by Texas. I think Texas absolutely deserved it for what they did this weekend in beating OU, and I actually like Bama at #2.I think it's better to be hanging around just outside 1; sure, we already have a big bullseye on our back, but not as big as if we were #1. Too much pressure there, I think. (Besides, as long as we win our games and make it to the SEC championship game, we're where we want to be.) I would have never imagined us even close to this high anyway, so everything is really just icing on the cake at this point.
I thought your Boilermakers looked okay too. Yall held OSU really well and have some good things to build on. But, yeah, I kinda wondered about your qb. Do you guys have any good back-ups?

Cheryl- I agree Being #1 now means nothing and it's too easy to lose it now. Of the two I actually think Bama has the better chance of winding up in the title game. I can't even imagine your place if they both make it CRAZY! Our back up played vs PSU and led us on our first scoring drive against the Lions in 2 yrs. But Tiller has always really liked Painter and for some reasons gives him more time. Thanks for voting!
