Controversy Reigns

Well, the journey is over for the Lady Kats who lost a heartbreaker this past Saturday in the semi state in just unbelievable fashion. I have been going to sporting events since I was 2 yrs old, and I have never seen anything like what we saw Sat in such a high stakes game with the winner going on to play for a state title. The final score was South Bend Washington 60 Kokomo 58, at least that is what the scoreboard said. So, here is what happened in the first half KHS played great got out to a nice 15-6 lead, but Washington came right back and eventually took a 36-31 halftime lead. I felt good because in all honesty this was the best team we had faced all year and we were in striking distance which is all you can ask for. They have an all world freshman who has already been offered by Notre Dame, and we held her to like 12 pts all day. The second half though started just horrible, as we hit a free throw then they took off, eventually taking the lead to 47-32. Kokomo once again though showed the heart they are so known for and went on a run of their own, hitting a three pointer, to cut the lead to 49-44 after three periods, then the fun began. Let me first say that the set of officals working this game were bad all game long for both teams, there were a ton of calls missed, and some strange calls called, that being said it didn't appear it was going to cost either team the ballgame til the end. So there is a minute and change to play were down 59-54, and we have the ball, the girl that hit the game winner last week steps up and hits another huge shot this week. two of the three refs signaled a three pointer and one a two, and they gave us three making the score 59-57, and we call an immediate timeout. During the timeout, my dad, who I was sitting with said wow I think we got a break that didn't look like a three. We were seated next too an IHSAA official, as well as the alternate official who is there to make sure the score is correct and time problems what not. Anyway my dad said to them, wow I thought that was a two they BOTH said no both of the refs signaled three, and my dad said hey will take it. After the timeout we come out play great defense and force a turnover with 40 secs to play, and of course everyone knows who is going to get the ball, Audrey. She gets it goes up for a three, and is fouled so three shots with 11 secs to play. She calmly sinks the first, misses the second, and hits the third(she is a 90% shooter so missing one is insane) this ties the score 59-59. Washington calls timeout, and the Kats huddle all excited thinking the game is tied with 11 secs to go. During the timeout the refs conference, and then conference at the scorer's table with book lady, and take a point away from us making it 59-58, well of course the crowd goes NUTS! Coach Hall is hot, the fans are hot, and the call sticks they say that shot that happened OVER a minute ago, was a two, and that's how the scorekeeper got it. Now coming out of the timeout we have to foul down one, the girl makes 1 of 2, we miss a 3 pointer at the buzzer game over, season over, fans in shock! Here is my problem with the whole situation, whether it was a three or a two pointer, the situation should have been resolved IMMEDIATELY when we called a timeout. At that deadball the offcials are suppose to talk with the scorebook keeper and make sure they are on the same page, didn't happen! They let the game go on over a minute without a correction and us playing the score that was on the board, and had we known the point was coming off at the 1:10 mark you bet we'd played the last minute differently. It's a bitter pill to swallow and a complete horseshit way to lose, but unfortunately shit happens sometimes. It's a shame that a great game with a great atmosphere came down to this, and the morning after the refs were the headline NOT the athletes. The other problem I had is with Plymouth and how they ran a horrible event, and hopefully will not be hosting anytime soon in the future. They had no security, they oversold tickets so it was an overcapcity crowd, and after the game when all the fans were going nuts and attacking the scorer's table, their administration was nowhere to be found and the KHS administration was left doing their job. TACKY! Tough way to lose, and a tough way to win since this is what everyone is talking about from that game. By the way ladykatbasketball.com has a picture of the shot in question and it's VERY hard to tell if it was a three or a two. Congrats on a great run though Lady Kats!

Thanks for letting me rant about this I feel better now :) On to other topics. I would like to share with you how I spent my day today. We celebrated my mother's birthday today and that meant the entire famdamily meeting at my grandma's house in Kokomo. That meant my sister, and brother in law coming from Noblesville with their three kids. Two of them are 2 yr old twins, and the other is 1, and well they are monsters! haha! For my mom's birthday she was probably more stressed out then happy to celebrate, because my grandma's house has soo much crap the boys can get into and believe me they find it. Then my mom worries about them breaking things, and goes into paranoid lady! So, after terrorizing my grandma's place we all came back to my mom and dad's and they gave the boys baths, and we had cake. It was a pleasant day but I have a headache! I always feel stupid around kids that can't really converse with you, it's like I am not going to talk like an idiot just to make you smile. Who knows, maybe that makes me a bad uncle. I keep telling my sister I will make up for it when they are older ha!

Anyone catch any of the closing ceremonies tonight from the olympics? I happened to flip to the channel right when Ricky Martin was performing. I was like WTF why hasn't this guy retired yet! He was singing some stupid song about cups of life, and trying to dance. If I were an athlete i'd be asking for better entertainment for the closing ceremonies or skipping them had I know he was going to perform. I was watching Grey's Anatomy tonight wow I love this show. I think we all saw it coming but Meredith broke George's heart, but in the end he found a new love interest it appears. I am sorry but this man is very homely and a dork, the only reason a female sleeps with this guy is A.) Drunk, B) Desperate, or C) Just needs laid(I guess that could be desperate!) As for Izzie, her heartman is back that patient she was flirting with a few weeks ago, and it sent Alex into a jealous fit. Umm does anyone else think that Izzie hitting on a patient is unethical? Sorry you females who love "McDreamy" I think he is McJerky! The man is married, and he is still trying to get in Meredith's pants, dude you're giving us males a bad name! Sure his wife cheated on him last year, but he CHOSE her over meredith, live with it pal! He had his chance, and I am sure he will be back in bed with Meredith soon. Such a good show!

Alright this is a long post, I am wondering if anyone will actually read the whole thing. I am hungry now I shall go eat something :) Any suggestions for Phat Tuesday's? I think I have an idea for this one if I decide to do it.

Have a great Monday everyone, if that is possible!

I tried to get Bruno to jump out of your cake wearing nothing but not sure he went for it haha!!! You know if I were in Indy this weekend we'd so be hitting a chucky cheese! Alright everyone ready all in unison

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy birthday dear NUTTY
Happy birthday to you!!

Have a great one!

Alright onto the next topic now. I have been thinking about what to write about and like 10 topics came to mind so lets do lightning round. What is that you might ask, well I will tell you my thoughts on all topics in brief :)

My cold
Yes, I am finally pretty much all better. Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes they were appreciated. I still have a lingering cough but nothing too serious. It was bad around 10am Sunday my head felt like it was going to explode it was so hot, and my body had the chills NOT FUN! So, I am glad it seems to be gone. I have been very lucky this year this is the first time I have been sick at all, so that was nice, and I don't take the flu shot! Go figure.

Winter Olympics-
Is anyone even watching these? I know that normal tv shows are crushing it night in and night out in the ratings. The US seems to be doing okeh I guess. Don't get me wrong I am a BIG fan of the summer games, maybe because those are sports people actually understand who knows? So, here is the lowdown US hockey sucked, and it was funny Mike H was talking so much junk about the US not getting a medal and shortly after I saw Canada lost too, no medal for you eh? That's like poetic justice. Women's hockey is pretty much equal to soccer BORING with a capital B. Curling please I have seen seniors at the local center shoot better games of shuffleboard, maybe they should try out for the next olympics. How about loud mouth, mr opinionated Bode Miller. The US skiier hasn't done jack either winning 0 medals at the time I wrote this. The biggest US stars Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto who won silver in ice dancing. WTF is ice dancing? Okeh so I watched it, Kristen made me but Tanith she is VERY cute so I didn't mind. Anywho I guess some controversy goes with them too, she wasn't a US citizen until Dec 31st. She didn't have to wait the normal period because of her "gift" and the law that got passed for such circumstances. Good for her, she was a canadian, so as soon as she became a US citizen it was rumored her IQ went up like 200 pts? Sasha Cohen, the hope for women's figure skating I guess fell 2 times and got silver. How can you fall twice and still get a medal? All and all I have probably watched 2 hrs total of the olympics, just not my cup of tea.

American Idol
Yes, the biggest show on TV is back and bigger then before. It's crushing other shows in the ratings which is awesome. They are at the final 24, well 20 after tonight. I totally think a woman will take it they are much more talented then the men. Some of my early favorites, Paris Bennet(tv guide picked her to win it) Katharine, Lisa, and Mandisa from the girls. All these women should make the top 12. The men, well not many good ones, Chris, Elliot, and Ace are probably the best, although I am rooting for david cuz people say he and I look alike. This is a great show, if you don't watch it, what the hell is wrong with you?! Tonight Becky, Stevie, Mister Copacabana, and Patrick left. I didn't see Patrick leaving I was hoping it was going to be Sway he was awful. I was okeh with the other three. Girls sing again on Tues, guys on Wed make sure you tune in! I have watched this show since season 1, and yes I vote ha make fun of me if you must. Season 1 I went with Kelly(she won), season 2 Kimberly Locke(3rd), season three latoya london/Diana Degarmo(4th, runner up) and Of course Carrie Underwood last season and she won. Her single "Jesus take the wheel" spent 6 weeks at #1 congrats Carrie! I think this season Paris will take it, it's in her blood to sing and perform and she is likable, and the runner up will be Katharine we'll see I guess.

hmm
Only other news, we start girls tennis season in like 2 weeks unbelievable that it's here. We are having a callout meeting tomorrow should be interesting to see how many girls come to it. Last year 44 girls came, and out of those 44 girls 22 showed up to the first practice. Should be an interesting season, I am hoping for good weather. Umm Phat Tuesday's will be back soon I have some topics lined up, but I am always open to requests any requests just leave in the comments :) The lady kats play Saturday at Plymouth vs #1 South Bend Washington. This will be a great game two very different styles. SBW is has an offensive average in the 70's, Kokomo's defensive average is in the 30's so you can see the difference there. Should be a good one here is my prediction.
Kokomo 55
SBW 53

FINALLY
It's spring cleaning around the blog here, I have decided to delete some links and add some new people to the dawgpound. I deleted Dana because it said her blog no longer existed. So, Dana if you are reading this and still have a blog out there somewhere let me know and I will relink ya! The blog I deleted from the links, well lets just say i'd rather not discuss it ;) Now who am I adding! Ahh the suspense, unless you cheated and looked to the side.

Tina! Welcome the bedrock girl, I wonder how long it will take for her to get tired of my flintstones references? Anyone else take flintstone vitamins growing up? She is a cool gal, and likes Idol so give her blog a read. Most of you I believe already do.
Michael! This guy is an amazing inspiring story. I found him thru seahag, she told me in a conversation one day I had to read it, and I did and am very glad i did. Thanks Seahag. He and I have some things in common going thru some medical ordeals. I hope you take a look at his blog as well.
Colorado Hurricane! I have been reading this guy's blog lately, I enjoy it. I hope he doesn't mind me adding him as a link :) if so leave me a msg haha. I think alot of you read his already as well, evidently I was late to the party. Give it a read if you don't, you'll be glad you did.
Please give all these new blogs a read, and you three welcome to the dawgpound, if you were here i'd give you dawgs.

Everyone have a great weekend! again HAPPY BIRTHDAY NUTS!

WOW!!

WARNING this is a sports related post, some other stuff at the bottom so feel free to scroll, it will only hurt my feelings a little if you do!

Well, it's been an incredibly long day, as I have been over at Huntington North HS for the IHSAA girls basketball regionals. I was so nervous, I get that way over big games like this, and the morning game was NO contest. The Lady Kats came out and shut down Dekalb from the get go, cruising to victory. Led by as many as 20, in the second half before winning 56-42. This victory set up a championship game at 8pm tonight with Huntington North, on their home floor. It is incredibly difficult to beat the Vikes on their home floor, and we beat them in the regular season making this contest that much more difficult. This one didn't look good from the start, something just seemed off. Turns out it was our shooting ACK! Alot of that has to do with the great defensive game Huntington played. It was nip and tuck, and back and forth affair in the first half with Kokomo grabbing a 23-22 halftime edge. I am telling ya my nerves were SHOT, I hate close games. The second half nobody seemed to take control of the game at all and both teams had their chances. North got the lead up to 5 twice but a pair of 3 point plays kept getting it back down to 2 for us. Nailbiting time came with under a minute to play, we have the ball down 35-33, and our Jr, who has struggled ALL night long, takes a three, and swish nothing but net. This sent the Kokomo fans into hysterics. After a timeout North beats the press this girl is going in for the go ahead lay up, and takes like 5 steps and a travel is called, now I am not feeling AS nervous, but still finding it hard to watch. Of course with 30 some seconds we're gonna get it to our 90% free throw shooter, who calmly sinks 2 putting us up 38-35. North drives down gets a great look at a 3 CLANK high off the rim KATS WIN!!! Wildkat fans go crazy, second straight year we have won a wild one in the championship vs., North. We now advance to next Saturday's final four either at Elkhart or Plymouth. This is the 9th final four appearance for KHS. The crowd tonight was unbelievable, it was what Hoosier Hysteria is all about. Student sections chanting back and forth, even AFTER we had won, it was AWESOME!

Alright you non sports people SPYGAL, start reading here. So, I haven't kicked this pesky cold yet bleh. Good news I don't think it's the bird flu but hey you never know right? The worst part is I can't stop coughing, so spending the day in a gym was a little uncomfortable coughing all the time. However, getting the win does make me feel a little bit better. I plan on spending all day tomorrow in bed! So, don't wake me! I have been taking cough medicine, I hope it starts working soon. I have to say sorry to Mike H, didn't mean to make you feel lonely buddy :( Sorry champ, but hang in there I have faith in you!

Alright, that's all I got for ya tonight kids. WAY TO GO LADY KATS!!! I am so excited.

Yes, that is Kylie Minogue they didn't have Kool and the gang, or we are the champions D'OH!

Phat Tuesday's (a few days late)

Ahh yes, Phat Tuesday's is usually suppose to happen on Tuesday but I have been busy so sue me. This Phat Tuesday topic centers around the holiday we just celebrated Valentines Day! The lovers holiday. So, I figured I will tell you everything Kristen and I did(well mostly everything ;) and in return you all tell me what you and your boy/girlfriend, spouse, lifepartner(it is 2006) did, deal? I thought I would add a little music to set the mood for the holiday :)

Alright so for me, Valentines Day actually started the week before, I decided to get Kristen a gift for every day of the week leading up to the actual day of Valentines. They were hidden thruout her apartment, and she was given clues on how to find them, and she wasn't allowed to snoop around for the other gifts until it was their appropriate day. Each day the gift got a little bigger and better all leading up to the best gift, which I am not going to disclose what it was. I can't help it I am a sappy romantic. So, we had a very nice romantic dinner at a nice little Italian restaurant, I of course did the traditional flowers, candy, teddy bear . Of course the biggest gift was that night. We went back to her place, sang her our song, we danced and well I don't really kiss and tell but ya kissed! ;) So, that was my Valentine's Day for 2006. I think Kristen really enjoyed it, this holiday is much more fun when you're in love. Your turn, let me hear what all you lovely people did to celebrate stupid cupid day! Hope you all had a great one, can't wait to read about them.

We are the champions!

Congrats to the Kokomo Lady Wildkats 2006 Sectional champs!

I personally would like to thank David Glatt for allowing me permission to use this picture that he took. He takes pictures for ladykatbasketball.com and does a tremendous job! I would also like to thank the staff at, ladykatbasketball.com for working with me on getting this picture on here. Thanks guys! This picture is after the national anthem at the season finale vs North Central where over 3000 fans packed Memorial Gym, home of the kats!

Sectionals are never easy when you consider you have to play Tuesday, Friday, and Sat to win it all. We started out Tuesday playing Harrison a team we drilled in the regular season, and I think the biggest question going into the game was were two of starters even going to play. They were held out of some games with injury and illness. Right off the bat we saw them dressed and ready to go and got some good minutes in and the Lady Kats rolled 71-35. Friday night was a rematch with Lafayette Jefferson another team we dismantled in the regular season, however I was EXTREMELY nervous for this game. See they are a very talented team and we had been hitting on all cyclinders that first time we played them. It didn't help my nerves any that we started the game down 8-3, before taking the lead for good and well not looking back, leaving Jeff in our dust. Super Sensational Senior Audrey Mcdonald was absolutely amazing scoring 25 and some crazy acrobatic shots as well. Final was 55-31, but it wasn't that close at all. A sidenote, I love beating Laf Jeff at anything. See they used to be in our conference the NCC and decided to leave, and before they could, were kicked out. The Lafayette newspapers took some cheap shots at the cities of NCC schools, and some other things were said. I also know their coach from his EHS days, and quite frankly he will never be man of the year in my book. So it's fun to beat them :) Saturday night was the championship vs. the Logansport Berries and well to use a cliche we squashed them 51-32. Not an easy game to play because we beat them by 40 in the regular season had an emotional game the night before so good job ladies. Whitney Farris for the Kats was AMAZING 10 of 11 from the floor had 25 pts and was unstoppable.

The next stop is Regionals this coming Saturday at Huntington North. We play game #2 vs Dekalb at 12, and then hopefully the championship later that night vs the winner of game 1 between Anderson and Huntington North. My nerves didn't get much of a workout during sectionals but I know they will Saturday, Dekalb has only 1 loss so it's going to be a heck of a game, and if we are so lucky to move on playing either those other teams will be a tough task. The crowd will be HUGE, and if it's us and HN in the championship wow what a game that will be! I can't wait til Saturday :) I like our chances greatly, especially with a leader like Audrey McDonald when I think about what she does I think of a quote by Uconn women's coach Geno Auriemma. He once said the quote "we've got Diana you don't" Refering to All American Diana Turasi. It's kind of how I feel in regards to Audrey, "we've got Audrey you don't" Greatest competitor I have ever seen male or female, what she does is amazing! However, this might be one of the most balanced starting 5 in the state, and if you try and stop audrey someone else will burn you! Here are my predictions.

HN over Anderson(slight upset)
Kokomo over Dekalb(hope i am right!)
Kokomo over HN

Other sports news I just got back from the Purdue game, where the boiler women rocked Minnesota in front of 11,000 at Mackey. Final score was 63-31, folks this was a game between #10(purdue) and #11(Minny) great win ladies! Couple of wins away from a big ten title. Anyone watching the olympics?

FINALLY A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SEAHAG!!! Hope you had a great day, and Jinx pampered you. :) Look for a Phat Tuesday's(but possibly not on Tuesday) Valentines edition :) Have a great week everyone!

My Day

So my day is moving pretty slow. Can't wait to get out of here!!

I almost caught the microwave at work on fire popping popcorn! Yikes....among other things I guess I can be a fire hazard.

Tonight I'm going to catch that movie Last Holiday http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808750393/info It is at the cheap seats...thought I would go and check it out. How much does it cost to see a new release movie where you guys are from? Here in Indianapolis normally ranges around 9 bucks!! uggg

Roxie is doing pretty good. Last night she started going to the door and whimpering and pawing at it when she needs to go out. So proud of her. Now just still working on the biting issue. Just play biting, but it is getting annoying!! Any suggestions?

Time to get LOUD time to represent

Yes yes, we all know what time it is, it's tournament time baby! Those of us in Indiana know this time of year as "Hoosier Hysteria" as the state tournament begins tonight for girls basketball. This first round that starts this week is called Sectionals, 2 games on Tuesday night, 2 on Friday night and the championship on Sat night. The Lady Kats open Tonight at 7:45 vs Harrison a team they beat 63-29 in the season opener. We are a HEAVY favorite to win the sectional considering we take an 18-2 record and #4 ranking into sectionals but you never know what can happen during tournament time. We lost our last game out at home vs. 2 time defending state champ North Central 49-43 in just an amazing game played in front of 3000 LOUD fans rocking Memorial Gym. It was an odd game, the Kats had two starters not playing due to injury and illness, and North Central features Amber Harris a young lady headed to Purdue next year. Got to see something special in that Miss Harris stole the ball raced down court and dunked, yep a HS girl dunked it was awesome. So, the run begins towards the goal of making the state finals at Conseco Fieldhouse in a few weeks. Last year we lost in the final 4 one freakin' step away from state, when a girl from Gary hit an insane three pointer with like 10 seconds to go. It will be hard pressed to repeat the run from a year ago, but if we get healthy we have a great shot, not to mention we have one of the best players, and shooters in the state. Love tournament time!! In the end I will be very disappointed if we don't at least win sectionals. We are hosting so that gives us the extra edge, 3000 screaming fans in hot pink. After that you not only need to be good, but a bit lucky as well.
My famous predictions return, here is what I think will happen
McCutcheon over Jeff(this is an upset)
Kokomo over Harrison
Kokomo over McCutcheon
Marion ove Logan(they are the berries)
Kokomo over Marion for the title.

Lets see for those of you who don't enjoy sports, spygal quit your complaining, this next part is for you. I figured I might as well share what I did this weekend, I went over to Spy's place and watched her senior citizen neighbors get it on, I still can't believe spy is charging for people to watch! haha JK. Lets see Friday I had absolutely NOTHING to do it was grand, so I started reading my new Tammy Hoag book "Dark Paradise" couple hours later I had finished. It was good, but not as good as some of her others. I am gonna read "on the run" by Iris Johansen next I can't wait, I love her books. I was pretty stoked to find it, I didn't know she had a new book out. After reading I watched some tv, and turned in for the evening very uneventful. I did have an odd dream about one of you in the links but I will not be sharing it's inappropriate.

Sat I slept in a little, and then I watched some college basketball it was insane both ESPN and ESPN 2 had games on and at almost the exact same time both games went to overtime as someone hit a 3 on both channels, CRAZY I tell you. Then I figured since I was picking up Kristen later I better make myself halfway presentable as we had plans to go to dinner and the Purdue game. I had a great time I love hanging with Kristen she is awesome. Dinner was excellent, we ate at an italian place over in Lafayette, and headed over to Mackey. What a night the BOILERS WON!! They beat Wisconsin, it was awesome to be there. After the game we headed to Harry's to meet up with some old friends, Harry's is a great bar, ever get to Lafayette go there, and GO UGLY EARLY!! We kicked it at the cactus for a bit as well. All in all a great night.

As for Sunday, I was so ready to watch the superbowl, and I admit to even flipping to the animal channel and catching a bit of Puppy Bowl II such high drama. So, here is the great thing about Super Bowl Sunday, nobody wants to put original programming up against it so you get marathons of shows all day long, or movies it's awesome. Before the game even starts, I didn't watch all the pregame shit, I decided to start some laundry, ended up doing 6 much needed loads I now have clean clothes yay me! I traded emails with the world famous Seahag, she is so cool! If you don't read her blog I suggest you do, you can even see her cats get a bath. Anyway before the big game I started watching the Yes Dear marathon on TBS, and well I fell asleep haha. I woke up and it was like halftime, and ever since MTV was banned from doing the halftime show I have no interest in it, Sorry Rolling Stones. I hate to admit this, but I didn't even watch but the last 3 seconds, and that was because I was waiting for Grey's Anatomy haha I am a loser. Next year will be more fun when the Colts win it all, right Nutty? Finally on to Grey's Anatomy HOLY SHIT what an episode! I was on the edge of my seat all show long. Izzie and Alex got busy, Meredith has her hand in a mans chest, that happens to have a bomb in it and if she moves her hand BOOM, Bailey is in labor, while her husband is fighting for his life on the operation table HOLY HELL what a power punched hour. I can't wait til the next episode. Then after the show I went to bed to get ready for a long week of Bleacher Butt! I think I will be there by Friday at halftime. Thanks for reading this very boring post, if any of you made it this far.

GO LADY KATS!

OH YEA!!! Welcome to the dawg pound Rocky/Racquel. Maybe you'll cure my fear of Fish/Sharks!

Monday, February 06, 2006

So I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a pretty busy weekend. I saw that movie When a Stranger Calls about the girl babysitting and the calls are coming from INSIDE the house!!! YIKES. I really wasn't planning on seeing this moving, but my friend talked me into it. I did enjoy it and several times I had my coat over my face!!

Then Saturday and Sunday I spent a lot of time with Roxie just hanging out. She is doing really good for only 10 weeks old. Still trying to get that potty training under control, but for the most part, she does pretty good.

I'm a loser and only watched the first part of the Superbowl last night...and I didn't even watch the half time show. I went to bed around 9:30pm..I didn't even find out who won until I came to work and got on the net. The game was fixed anyway, sorry Steeler fans. I was kind of neutral on this since my boys the Colts didn't go =(

Say Hi to Roxie Everyone...

I ended up picking up my pup this weekend. She is soooo cute. I ended up naming her Roxie and she likes it =) Thanks Shife for the help.

We went to the vet on Tuesday for her shots and she did awesome!! She just slept in my lap the whole time and the other dogs didn't bother her. She already weighs 15 lbs and is just almost 10 weeks old!! Yikes.
