Hmm I guess this is our rivalry week?

First off I want to start by saying I sit here and complain about losing, bitch about our coach, talk about how he deserves to be fire, etc etc but I was reminded of something again this week sports aren't the end all. My team winning or losing, or how my coach performs is not what's important life is. You might ask where are you going with this Phats, well life kicked me hard in the ass this past Tuesday, and no I am not talking election results(for the record was elated with that) I was working at the center and read an interesting tweet, and so I followed up and heard some news that just shocked me to the core, and in all honesty made me sick to my stomach. I seriously had a hard time focusing on work the rest of the night as I fought back tears and my emotions. A long time family friend had passed away, in a weird still figuring out the details he was electrocuted doing something around his pool. It gets worse as his wife came home and found him. Any death is upsetting but this one shook me, I have known this family most my life, my parents both went to HS with them, he coached football with my father, the wife would ride to games with us so it was like I lost a family member. I basically just wanted to start off this blog by saying Purdue might win, or they will lose this Saturday, but I for one got a shocking reminder life is precious. RIP Dick(yes, that is his name)

Now, onto the lighter side that would be sports. Time for predictions and picking with me is one of my favorites my buddy Mr Shife, who I commiserate with during football season. I am actually going to let him introduce the games this week because he wrote a nice little paragraph to help kick things off.

So Phats and I are both in BOB - Bring on Basketball - mode since our football teams are CTD - Circling the Drain - and definitely looking ahead to MMXIII - 2013 - as we will have new HC - Head Coaches - leading our squads next year and then we will both V/BTFU - Vandal and Boiler the F#ck Up.

PRO GAMES
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings(Thomas)
Phats- I should start off by saying I am not good at NFL picks but here goes why not take the Lions aren't they kind of due? Weren't they good last year?

Shife- The Vikings are tough at home but the Lions have been playing well lately and I am going to stick with the hot team, Detroit 

St Louis Rams(Phoenix) at San Francisco 49ers 
Phats- No clue I like Phoenix though he seems like a good guy so here ya go!

Shife- The Rams are certainly playing better this year but not enough to challenge the Niners at home. San Francisco gets another victory.

Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots(Thomas)
Phats- I do know the Pats are pretty good, give me pretty boy Brady

Shife- The Bills have a ton of talent but can't seem to put it all together on the field, and it certainly will not happen on the road against the Pats. New England wins.

Shife- The Chiefs are bad, and it is going to be really bad for them at Pittsburgh. Steelers all the way in this one

Missouri Tigers(Nutz) at Tennessee Volunteers(Tiggy)
Phats- Missouri first season in the SEC hasn't been great, Tennessee at times shows they aren't bad I am going with the Vols at home in a close one

Phats- Boilers start the season Friday in Mackey against a DANGEROUS Bison team.  ESPN actually called them this year's cinderella.  Should be a good test but the Boilers pull it out at home
