Gotta do better than that

1 week down in college football, and already I am excited for the next one to get here. After the first game I am happy, but I am also realistic the Boilers want to get to 6 wins they will have to improve each week. However, unlike some Boiler fans getting the win to me was HUGE because this team had forgotten how to win, lets not forget they were on a 6 game losing streak, and there were lots of things to like from this game, and lots of things to worry about. Here are a few things.

1- Caleb Terbush was our starting QB if we are completely healthy he would be third on the depth chart, but he did a good job for his first ever start. He had a great 4th quarter, and led us from our own 15 yard line to the game winning TD.

2- Defense, OUCH Didn't do so hot, hopefully they improve or it will be another long year.

3- Special teams was AWESOME. We have in my opinion the best kicker in the nation in Carson Wiggs, the kid hit a 75 yarder in the spring game, Saturday he made a 50 and 47 yarder and also came into punt twice to pin the Blue Raiders deep. Also, Ricardo Allen blocked MTSU's game tying field goal attempt as the clock ran out.

4- MTSU is a good team and will do well in the Sun Belt. They aren't great, they aren't bad, and they had a nice representation in the stands. I enjoy watching them run their offense I don't see them beating Ga Tech Sat, but I do see them competing for the Sun Belt.

5- PAG! Purdue All Girl Cheer squad made their debut alongside the Coed squad, and did AWESOME!!! Such a short time to learn stunting techniques they did GREAT and will only get better.

6- HOLY SHIT it was HOT! I can't even imagine wearing full pads. My mom sent me a text during the game saying "make sure you are all drinking because the sideline reporter just said it's 121 down on the field. It was SWELTERING. I am not sure I remember a hotter opener.

Next up is a road trip to Rice, in Houston Texas playing in heat this past Saturday should only help prepare us for what we will face in Houston.

As for my picks, pretty good start I went 12-2. I missed Shife's Vandals losing as well as the Oregon/LSU game. I knew I shouldn't pick on my love for Donald Duck! I have lined up a guest picker for this week, hopefully they will be willing to do it :) I am still on the Boise bandwagon, after they beat Georgia I am still picking them as my National Champ. Hope I don't jinx them Duck!!

As for the weekend, nothing else exciting happened. After the game we went to a friend's house and played some game. Been really enjoying the 2011 US Open. I can't imagine anyone beating Serena Williams the way she is playing. I have never been a big fan of hers, but you have to admire all she went through, and to be out there playing again WOW! I also found a new favorite in Andrea Petkovic she is freaking awesome, after she wins she does a celebatory dance for this Open she has been Pop and Locking! On the mens side the Big 4 are all crusing, and shock of shocks Andy Roddick made an ass out of himself AGAIN. After his first round win he basically said tennis commentators have no brains, and it's the easiest job in the world. The guy is a dick!
