As promised a non sports post

So, I promised to do a post containing no sports talk whatsoever, and here it is. I was trying to think of things to write about and thought of a lot, so I figured this post is going to be decent, or me rambling and nobody reading it. Shoot it could be decent and nobody still might read it haha. Anyway, onto the post.

Christmas- I have to say I am really excited about Christmas, it's easily my favorite holiday. It's so magical with all the decorations, and believe me I go all Clark W Griswald on our home, but it's also a holiday with a great meaning. So many great things about Christmas, of course I am superficial so I will say the presents, but also the movies, songs, like I said earlier the decorations they are all GREAT! Do you guys have any fun Christmas traditions? Our family started one a few years ago, well 6 to be exact we now all stay all night at my sister's house on Christmas Eve. They have 3 kids twins that are 6 and a younger one that is 5, so that way when they wake up BRIGHT and EARLY on Christmas morning we are there to see all the excitement. It's funny I am old now and I am still too excited usually myself to sleep on Christmas Eve! How about the movies, anyone have a favorite? I gotta go with my all time favorite Christmas Vacation. That is a movie that my college roommate and I used to watch when it wasn't even Christmas! I can almost quote the whole thing, love it. I will say Elf is slowly but surely catching up to it as one of my favorites. Last year we showed it to my nephews for the first time, and one of the twins is a clown and decided to try the escalator scene himself at a mall. It was quite hysterical, and I think he loved even more that people were laughing at him while he did it. Anyone watch the 24 hours of A Christmas Story? It wouldn't be Christmas without watching Ralphie at least once right? I love the music too, our local radio station has been playing all Christmas since the first of December, and I love it! As much as I love Christmas, I probably have as much despise for New Year's, I am perfectly content staying in with family and doing nothing. I think it all started when our family was rocked 4 years ago on New Year's Eve with some news, and it's just never been the same for me. Those of you who know me in real life know what I am talking about it, and I love you guys for all your support when that stupid holiday rolls around. Enough of this depressing talk though, is all your Christmas shopping done? I haven't started, but we're going out shopping with my sister, and brother in law this weekend, and I am hoping to finish then. Does everybody want my list so they know what to get me or just going to surprise me?

Books- So those of you who know me, know I am an avid reader. I love reading murder mysteries and psychological thrillers. I have pretty much read all the James Patterson books, big fan of King, Koontz, Johansen, Hoag, Brown, Mary Jane Clark, and Gardner, but lately I was turned onto a new author and a new book that I literally could not put down. A few years ago I read the book The Long Walk by Stephen King and immediately told my sister she had to read, as we share books often and have similar tastes so I sent it to her, and immediately heard from that she was not happy because she didn't like the book but still couldn't put it down. Anyway, recently she told me I needed to read the book Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, she read it and said it was like the King book, but she actually liked this one. So, I gave it a try and boy was she right I literally couldn't put it down, read it in a day, and immediately went out and got the second book. It's funny this book is in the Young Adult section, but I loved every minute of it, it's one of those books it had me thinking about it even a few days after finishing it. The book is basically set in the future, and the United States is no longer it's actually a Capitol and 12 districts, and the Capitol holds all the power and wants the districts to remember that. So, each year the districts hold a drawing to send 2 tributes(1 boy 1 girl KIDS) to the Capitol to compete in the hunger games. Basically that is a game of killed or be killed to win you have to be the last kid standing! Sounds morbid, but it's great, and I highly recommend it.

TV- I am such a tv junkie, and at that a reality tv junkie. The Amazing Race finale the other night was well AMAZING! This is not the first time while watching this show I have found myself standing and screaming at the tv for a team to win. The only disappointing thing for me this year was the Harlem Globetrotters! I was so mad they didn't make the finale, and in the episode before the finale chose to take the 4 hour penalty instead of finishing the task. I still think he could have worked it out, and by the time he did they could have caught up to Brian and Erica who took FOREVER on the detour task. Oh well, Megan and Cheyenne probably deserved to win it they sure did dominate most of the season, even though at times it looked like they were in trouble. Man did they count 1 million dollars in poker chips fast! It probably is the best reality show on TV, can't wait for it to come back in the spring, in the meantime I will get excited over American Idol coming back in January! As for the new shows, I have tried a few and only 1 new show remains in our rotation. We tried Flash Forward, but lost interest in that one after a few episodes, V didn't do it all for us, I tried Modern Family, but just found myself bored, the only new show we regularly watch is Glee! If you are not watching this show you should give it a try, it's AWESOME. The writing is really good, the musical numbers are great, and if nothing else watch it for the character Sue her one liners are some of the best. Unfortunately tomorrow is the last new episode until April, but it looks to be a good one. Also, we discovered the other night that we have the free on demand karaoke channel, and uhh lets just say it's been put to good use hahahaha :) Bekah I should host the next game night that way you can sing!

Cussing- If you haven't noticed I tend to cuss a lot. I have tried to cut back, and tried to cut down on the big words you know like the one I used in a recent post, but then I think seriously what does it hurt?! It's just a word, and when I am really pissed off the words seem to fly effortlessly. Maybe for my new year's resolution I will try to clean up my potty mouth, what do you think?

Friends- I am truly blessed to have great friends, ones I know in real life and you guys bloggers I haven't met. However, I really miss one of my best friends. No don't worry she didn't die she just won't talk to me. I have blogged about her before, her name is Jenn we used to be best friends but since June she hasn't talked to me. For those that don't remember here's a short recap she married a douchebag assclown! You know going in I really gave this guy a shot, probably too many to be honest with you but I did and everytime he was a bigger jackass. If it were just me that thought this I probably would suck it up, but everyone who has met the guy feels the same, her entire family can't stand him yet they don't say anything. Mostly because the same thing will happen she will freeze them out. Anyway, I finally got tired of it, and this past June my sister had a little get together for me for my birthday, and she lives close to Jenn so naturally I invited her, but I told her, "your husband isn't invited" I think that's the straw that broke the camels back. ha! So, now I am not sure what to do with the situation??

Alright, I have rambled on, and on hopefully I didn't bore you to tears, but I did fulfill my promise no sports talk! If I didn't cover something, or you just have a question feel free to leave it in the comments and I will answer it. Hope everyone has a good rest of the week, we are bracing for what might be some freezing rain, have I mentioned I HATE WINTER!

Have a good one

clapping for a non sports post!!!! :) Um - I don't think we need the karaoke!!!!! I am, however, all for the new years resolution!! :)

I'm watching the biggest loser finale right now (while I eat doritos) and when that's done, I am out of shows until January. Then I probably won't be able to keep up with it all.

Favorite traditions? Um, I always sleep by the tree on Christmas Eve so I can wake up with all the pretty lights on Christmas morning. And the last few years, I've gone out to see the lights in the park with one of my friends and her two kids and then we do our gift exchange. It's fun! Well and my mom's homemade candy. Bring that on!!!

A non-Boiler Maker post, I like it. This could have been several posts ;o)

I love the 24 hrs of A Xmas Story!

Amazing Race - Yeah, we love it as well. They did deserve to win, they played a great race. We could not beleive the globetrotter could not get 'Franz', we couldn't help but cringe when he took the 4 hour penalty. The other globetrotter woudl have easily figured it out, it was too bad.

Wow, I can't BELIEVE you didn't talk about sports. I was hoping there would at least be a shout-out for the Bama-Purdue game. I promise I will take a picture of me at the game and post it for your enjoyment!! HA!

We absolutely are ADDICTED to Glee here in our household. It is my very favorite new show of the year, and we are also all addicted to the soundtrack. If you don't have the first one, you must get it. (You should hear Sydney sing "Don't Stop Believing" and, my personal favorite, "Hate on Me." It's quite entertaining!)

Of course, we all love Christmas here. I'm just about done with my shopping and we have a lot of great traditions. My fave movie is a sentimental classic..It's a Wonderful LIfe. I still bawl like a baby every single time I watch it!

Loved all of your rambling thoughts!

Ha, me and the girl watched Elf last night. She absolutely loves it, but like you I'm quickly warming up to its place in Christmas traditions. Nothing beats Frosty the Snowman though. And I want pics of your house all Griswold'd out.

Sorry about your friend Jenn. Hopefully she comes to her senses and realizes how stupid it is to let you guys' friendship go. Either that or maybe she'll realize her husband is a no-talent ass-clown.

Rocket- Gotcha! I thought maybe that was it but just wanted to check :)

Topolk- I'll have to take a picture! We also put up 4 trees. Frosty, and rudolph are definitely classics. I hope she realizes her hubby is "no-talent ass-clown" ha but I doubt it.

Phats:

I, too, hate winter. Or, at least, I hate the COLD! Except for Christmas Eve, I don't like accumulating snowfall. Christmas Eve, I'm ok with up to an inch of snow, with no ice or anything mixed in.

Good post! See? You CAN do it!

;-D

I love reading too..but I tend to go to the fantasy/sci-fi section of the bookstore (yes, I'm a geek/nerd).

About Jenn, I think she'll come around. They usually do.
