Weekend Wrap Up

Hey Folks, after a long day of college football here is the wrap up. Of course my beloved Boilermakers were dealt their first loss of the year today at Notre Dame 35-21, however Boiler Nation comes away feeling pretty good about the game, or at least as good as you can in a loss. We out gained the Irish yardage wise, Painter had more passing yards then Quinn, just didn't lead on the all important category the scoreboard. We are VERY young and this was a game that could have gotten ugly, but we held strong and actually had tons of chances in this one. Some key mistakes at key times killed us, and a huge downpour right when we get first and goal didn't help either. Too many dropped passes, and too many bad penalties all add up to a loss. We made progess though, and Notre Dame couldn't stop our offense we stopped ourselves. How about Freshman(soph) receiver Lymon breaking a record for most yards by an opponent against Notre Dame with 238 yards. Couple of notes, Lou Holtz is an idiot and has no business commentating for ESPN, The refs today were absolutely horrible missing several key calls while making several horrible calls(I knew we'd get homered but never thought it'd be that bad). and Notre Dame's defense is absolutely horrible!

Not all games are complete but here are the standings on the pick em, with Washington/UA still going on and the Monday night game with the eagles. I have someone in mind for next week I will email her and see if she wants to do it.

PHATS = 5 WOOHOO's 4 D'oh's(not very good this week) 27-11 overall after 4 weeks
Cheryl = 5 WOOHOO's 3 D'oh's 1 WTF
Gary = 4 WOOHOO's 5 D'oh's
Looks like Cheryl will win bragging rights in the battle between hubby and wife, with both picking UW and the Eagles. Thank you both for participating you guys are awesome.

Some observations from blogger teams
Great win for Jef and Fuzz's Texas Tech Red Raiders, what a great catch to win it, exciting! Might have saved your season. I am not so sure about your coach though saw him interviewed and he acted like you all lost wtf? Kayla, WOOHOO GO BLAZERS!! I am glad they won, and I am glad I was wrong they have had a tough schedule and deserved this big win, keep'er rolling. Design Goddes, I am forced to eat humble pie again, KSU is playing great a MAC title perhaps?? Go Golden Flashes! Shife, what's up with the Vandals man? They are on a roll going for a bowl bid? Cheryl and Gary what a tough loss again, you guys were right there, and that score was not nearly as close as the game. I was flipping back and forth when our game was in timeouts. I did all the Alabama cheers, and I wish it would have helped them. The big win of the day though goes to Ohio State for thumping Iowa in Iowa City, it was no contest. Can you imagine if OSU and UM win out and set up a date in Columbus to see who goes to the national title game WOW! We have Iowa next week, I hope they have an OSU hangover haha :)

I was really bad in forgetting someone's birthday on here, someone who is really cool. So, I am taking this opportunity as well to try and make it up to her! everyone wish Beading a belated happy birthday, everyone ready to sing?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,

Rain, Thunder, Lightning, and Tennis don't mix

Hi bloggers!
Well, I was suppose to have a Jr High Tennis match tonight but as soon as we got there the sky just lit up with lightning, and although it might sound fun putting 30 jr high kids in a metal cage in a lightning storm, I am not that mean. Although it totally cleared up the whole bus ride home so had we waited like 15 mins we probably would have played. Now we are ppd to Monday yay rah, that's sarcasm btw.

So, lately this blog has been all about sports and I thought today i'd write a post not about sports for you non sports people! I actually had a sports post ready but the video wouldn't load and I tried like 5x! I was worried I would get up and see 5 posts all the same haha. So anyway, savor this one, til Friday my friends. It's pretty sad though because I have nothing really to write about non sports related that's how much sports run my life haha! So, lets talk shall we?

I have a wedding to go to saturday and I sort of have a dilemma, what to do what to do. I asked my mom what she thought and she said as long as I let them know I wasn't going to the reception that's the main point, so that is covered. Originally I RSVP'd yes, but said I can't make the reception, however I am starting to rethink the wedding. Is it rude to not go after RSVP'ing yes even though I will not be at the reception and they already know that. I am not going to say the reason I don't want to go, because it's sports related haha! My assistant coach is getting married, and I would kind of like to go, but a big part of me really doesn't want to go, what should I do?

I know we've got some television fans out there, what shows are you all watching? I, of course am a HUGE fan of Grey's Anatomy(thanks nuttina!) and I thought the first show this season was decent. It wasn't up there with the superbowl or the finale, but I bet it keeps getting better as the season goes on. I kind of agree with Design Goddess, that showing some of the characters more would be better, but like she said it is GREY's anatomy and she is Dr. Grey. I love the coming attractions where her panties are on the lost and found board haha! I also saw they bringing on a little girl that has special ties to Izzie, duh her daughter! I was watching dancing with stars, but I missed it last night. It's kind of a downer to me because So you think you can dance was soooo good this season, and to me Dancing with stars hasn't come close to that. What do you guys think? I like Sara Evans, because I love her music and well she is hot, and Jerry springer is freakin' awesome. I think I am one of the few who liked Tucker Carlson as well(sorry steph). His line when he got cut was hysterical, "teaching me to dance would be like einstein teaching a slow kid math" still laughing over that. Staying with reality, Survivor has been pretty good so far, looks like they are merging this Thurs. All that talk of race divided tribes and they merge after 2 episodes. I can't believe how easy now the immunity idol has been found both last year and this year. I betcha it comes into play this season. Of course I love the amazing race, and my favorite teams are the father/daughter(lesbian), models/recovering addicts, and the beauty queens. I was impressed with the beauty queens this past week til they made the bonehead move of forgetting their hat! The cheerleaders bit the dust, sad to see them go they were fun. I know we have some gilmore girls fans as well, what did you all think of last nights show? I really want Lor and Christopher together, but I know deep down it will probably be that loser luke. I loved Kirk driving the car thru Luke's that was hysterical! I love when the new tv season starts! I watch too much but I don't care, it's my relaxation.

How about this for weird, this past weekend Kristen was over and we were watching old videos of me with my parents. Anyway, one of the videos has me and my first love on it, she is a real bitch now. The weird part Kristen knew her! I was like woah that is crazy. It's funny because this specific video is probably the first time I fell for her, and we had our first date shortly after it. Interesting right?

Alright last item of business, since I am just kind of rambling on and I have no real new ideas for posts I want you all to help me decide what to post about. Just vote in the comments for one of the following, and I will make a post geared toward it soon.
A. My personal life
B. My work Life
C. My past life
D. Sports
E. Stop posting altogether ya jackass!
F. Kristen and I

Alright have a great Wednesday, look for a new post for the Friday fireup, with special guest pickers!!

OOO I almost forget that big news, I will be having a guest blogger on Monday, STEPH!! Treat her with the same respect you treat me, oh god nevermind scratch that! hahaha

An Open Letter

Dear ESPN,
As a faithful viewer of the the 20 some years of my existence I have watched you, and some days hours on end. Lately I have been a little disturbed with some of your programming and I wanted to let you know you. The following programs need to be dropped from your 50 different channels please for one reason or the other. First up is darts. Sure it takes skill to throw darts I guess, but you can go to any bar and watch a local drunk do it as well. It isn't a sport, it's a game and therefore showing some world dart championship that nobody cares about is pointless, please drop it. Next is hot dog eating contests. Are you kidding me? Absolutely nobody in their right mind can defend this as a sport. Those people aren't athletes they are insanely gross people who will die sooner then most because of shoving hot dogs down their throat at a rapid rate. This contest is not fun to watch, it's not exciting, and it doesn't belong on any of your networks. The world series of poker. First let me say I enjoy texas hold em sure, but that still doesn't make it a sport. Again this is a game and your constant showing of this game at all times and all hours is starting to piss me off. It seems like everytime I turn on the deuce poker is on. Lets be honest if I want to watch poker i'll turn on bravo and watch celebs so at least it's entertaining. Get rid of poker please. How about billiards? While I enjoy watching the black widow, Janet Lee, of Indianapolis kick some ass, this kind of falls in the same category as darts. At least some of billiards is exciting to watch, and of course the black widow is exciting to watch, but please take it off your network or scale back the coverage. Finally I am going to ask you remove soccer from your coverage as well, not that you show it that much anyway. If I want to be bored out of my mind I will tune in, but for the most part soccer is like watching paint dry. It's a dumb sport, yes I called it a sport, that will never catch on here in America as a fan favorite. No excitement, no scoring equals no thanks for Phats. I sadly do not get ESPN Classic, and wish I did so I could watch classic games rather then be bored to tears by the above listed activities. Please go back to the real ESPN we all know and love.
Thank you
Phats :)

Random Ramblings
I am not one to bite my tongue, it's not me nor is it my style but I chose to lately over a situation, and I am starting feel a pool of blood in my mouth OUCH! I am not going to go into specifics but if you dish it out, be ready to take it.

I am lining up some guest pickers for Saturday's game if they decide to do it. I hope they do. Last week I smoked Design Goddess, but I like to be a nice host so I said she won, shhh don't tell her!

For those of you who don't know Purdue won 27-21 4-0 baby! The bad news we have Notre dame this saturday. I actually have been debating doing a friday preview because we might get smoked this weekend, but thought what the hell, I did it for most of the season last year. Thanks to those of you who asked, yes I did have a great time, it's always nice being back on the field. Cheryl did you hear the Boiler Up cheer and train whistle? I am ready for my Bama cheer!

Has everyone welcomed back Spygal! It's good to have her back, she is funny and cool, when she isn't watching her neighbors get it on. Also I am glad Steph is okeh after her brush with a tornado that's scary! For details visit her site. Shannon, did I really see the flea flicker used by your eagles, freaking AWESOME! Gary love how involved you are with your daughter's softball, and the pictures are great keep em coming! Jef, I think that sucks what your paper did, and I would boycott! Nuttina WELCOME BACK!! I am glad you had a great time.

Finally, how awesome is it to see the New Orleans Saints back in the superdome where they belong! Lots of healing taking place tonight.

Boiler Up

Hello Friends,
Welcome to another edition of the Friday Fireup here on the old blog, as the mighty boilers get ready to start big ten play tomorrow. However, before I go any farther I have some business I must take care of, yes I must eat my words! Design Goddess, KSU is awesome and I was a bonehead for picking against them, you are the best, and I bow down to the goddess! (is that ok) Since I was so off I would like for you to be the guest predictor for this entry, just predict all the games I list and I will add them to the blog. Good Luck! Now onto the preview boys and girls.

This week the Purdue Boilermakers take on the Minnesota Gophers Saturday at Ross Ade at noon on ESPN 2. This is homecoming week, and yours truly will be on the field so look for me! I was at a huge pep session, and parade, complete with fireworks tonight as the festivities for homecoming got started. It was fun, the band, dance team and cheerleaders performed, Coach Tiller talked and got everyone fired up. Folks there is no other way to put it, this is a HUGE game for the Boilers. Here is why, we need 7 wins(we play 13 games) to go to a bowl and we are currently 3-0. We beat Minnesota and add that to should be wins over IU, ILL, and NW and there are the 7, lose this game and that means we have to beat one of the following Notre Dame, Penn state, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa or Hawaii. So this is a big time game for us, and I for one am glad it's at home. Last time out we defeated Ball State, and not to be rude to you cardinal fans but it wasn't nearly as close as the 38-28 score as we doubled them up on total yardage almost gaining 600 yards. Painter our QB looked unbelievable and have Boiler fans believing again! On to the keys to the game.

It doesn't seem to matter where this game is played it's usually always a thriller and high scoring, and usually comes down to whoever has the ball last. Last year we choked away an 8 point lead with 2 mins to go in regulation and lost in double OT, and it was Tiller's first ever lose to Minny's coach Mason. It always was the game that sent our season into a downward spiral. One of the year's Drew Brees played we defeated them 59-56, so it should be a good one. Minnesota for the most part went their usual route of scheduling cupcakes in the preconference, with one exception. That exception was them getting their ass kicked at Cal, and that made me feel better. I don't like Minnesota, because I don't like their coach. He openly dissed the Gopher's when the Ohio State job became available and expected to be welcome back with open arms when he didn't get the OSU job. I hate that they never play anyone in the pre big ten season(I know we haven't either, but we still have Notre Dame folks). And I hate when he whines when they don't go to a better bowl when they finish higher then other teams. Sorry but bowl games are about money you put nobody in the seats. So, I hope we pound them into the ground! Last time out our defense got better yet again, and the two early scores they gave up came when BSU took over on the 19 and the second was aided by 3 straight 15 yrd penalities. The secondary seems to have held up pretty well, and made Boiler fans feel better. We start only 2 Seniors, so we are still young. The offense last week was amazing, as Painter threw for over 400 yards, and we pretty much were only stopped when we stopped oursevles. Painter threw an early interception and can't do that this Saturday. Will our offense keep rolling, and will the defense hold up versus their toughest test to date? We'll see!

On to some predictions. I would like to welcome guest picker Design Goddess :)
Pillow fight of the week
UCONN at Indiana- IU coming off an embarrassing loss to Division 1AA southern illinois pretty much saw any chance at a bowl go up in smoke. Uconn is one of the top rushing teams in the country and SIU rushed for over 200 yards vs. IU, you do the math. Hoosiers go down again
UCONN 38 indiana 21
Design Goddess pick UCONN 100 indiana 2(nothing would thrill me, phats, more then that score)
UPDATED FINAL UCONN 14 indiana 7
PHATS = WOOHOO
DG = WOOHOO

Philadelphia vs San Francisco- This is for Shannon. I don't usually pick the pro games, not as exciting but Shannon is a good friend to the blog and I thought she deserved this. The eagles have had some tough luck lately, and I think they will break out big time and give Shannon a HAPPY weekend, and then hopefully she'll get that vacation too!
EAGLES 35 49'ers 21

UPDATED FINAL EAGLES 38 49's 24
PHATS = WOOHOO
DG = Scratching head, what did she predict?

Texas Tech vs SE Louisiana- For Fuzz and Jef, what a great way to rebound from a tough loss to TCU. How will the red raiders respond to their coach calling some big time players soft? I guess we'll see this one will get ugly early, and mop up time will happen quickly. Back ups will love this game!
TEXAS TECH 55 SE La 14
Design Goddess Pick TEXAS TECH 80 SE La 7
UPDATED FINAL TEXAS TECH 62 se la 0
PHATS = WOOHOO
DG = WOOHOO (you were really close)

Washington vs UCLA- For Egan. I should have listened to Egan last week and gone with UW but nope I didn't Big win over Fresno will carry them to a slight upset(ucla has a better record) over UW. Watch UW roll over the bruins
WASHINGTON 42 ucla 20
Design Goddess pick WASHINGTON 30 ucla 14
UPDATED FINAL WASHINGTON 29 ucla 19
PHATS = WOOHOO

TEXAS 41 iowa state 21
Design Goddess pick TEXAS 21 iowa state 8
UPDATED FINAL TEXAS 37 iowa state 14
PHATS = WOOHOO
DG = WOOHOO

Alabama vs Arkansas- For Cheryl and Gary. I think this will be a tough game for the crimson tide, as Arkansas always plays tough. I think the tide will pull this one out late though, and remain undefeated on the young season. ROLL TIDE!
ALABAMA 35 arkansas 28
Design Goddess pick ALABAMA 57 arkansas 3
UPDATED FINAL ARKANSAS 24 alabama 23 2 OT's (Sorry cheryl and gary)

UPDATED FINAL AUBURN 38 buffalo 7
PHATS = WOOHOO
DG = what? you get a D'oh!

OREGON STATE 42 idaho 14
Design Goddess Pick OREGON STATE 7 idaho 28(sucking up to shife I see!)
UPDATED FINAL OREGON STATE 38 idaho 0
PHATS = WOOHOO

Mississippi State vs UAB- for Kayla. Wow the Blazers finally get a break from that brutal schedule they had and take on a SEC doormat right now. I like the Blazers to squeak this one out by scoring in the final seconds. Blazers Win!
UAB 21 miss. st 14
Design Goddess pick UAB 04 miss. st 40 (2 safety's?)
UPDATED FINAL MISSISSIPPI 16 uab 10 OT
PHATS = D'oh
DG = WOOHOO

Kent State vs Bowling Green- For Design Goddess. Hmm what to do what to do, do I pick against the golden flashes again and fear the wrath of DG and her tormenting me if I am wrong? Or do I go with KSU?? Hmm I think i'll play it safe, and watch as KSU takes this one to the house baby!
KENT STATE 31 bowling green 20
Design Goddess pick KENT STATE 500 bowling green 0
UPDATED FINAL KENT STATE 38 bowling green 3
PHATS = WOOHOO
DG = WOOHOO

FINALLY
Purdue vs Minnesota- Well, the last few years vs. the gophers have been shoot outs and I don't see this one being any different. They are calling for severe thunderstorms Sat, so it could be a wet one and that will make things more interesting. I like Purdue for 2 reasons, they are playing at Ross Ade, and it's homecoming. We have gotten better every week so far and we pass our first test while continuing to still improve. Boilers will win a squeaker, boiler up baby boiler up! Steph since I taught you all the cheers, I expect you to do them! Everyone look for me on tv!!
Design Goddess pick PURDUE 9000 minnesota 3(I hope this is right!) and finally my pick

PURDUE 49 minnesota 42

"I'll make a deal with you Grams, I will go to church with you when you say the word penis"

Hello Bloggers
I hope everyone had a PHAT-tastic weekend, I know I did. Anytime Purdue wins coupled with Notre Dame getting blown out, and IU losing to a 1AA team that's a great weekend. Purdue won 38-28 but it wasn't really that close, as in the 4th Purdue led 38-13 when starters were pulled. Incase you missed it Notre Dame got ROCKED at home it was the best moment ever! I hate Notre Dame, and I love to see them lose especially to a big ten team. IU lost a close one to Souther Illinois, and it was interesting listening to their play by play guy try to put a positive spin on losing to a 1AA team, yeah not happening. Alright enough of sports for this post. I was thinking what can I write about, because I really haven't thought of anything lately, and since I have quite a few new people coming here I thought i'd share 5 things you might not know about me. Lame, yes but I couldn't think of anything else to write about.

1. I only have 1 kidney, I believe most of you know this about me, but some of you might not. I had a kidney transplant when I was 12 yrs old(6th grade). My father was the donor and the surgery was the night before Thanksgiving, so no turkey for Phats in 89! My thanksgiving dinner consisted of ice chips yummy. My kidneys were shrinking and would eventually end up as nothing therefore were not taken out. I have a cool incision scar! I am better then ever now though so don't worry :)

2. I am incredibly scared of the following things. Fish, Snakes, and Feet. I have no idea where my fish came from or how it got started but to this day I won't go anywhere near fish. When we went to Disney I had to leave the living seas exhibit to get away from the enclosed aquariums. Snakes are just sneaky things and I want nothing to do with them. I am saying that's genetic because my dad is deathly afraid of them too. Feet, goes way back to when my dad had surgery on his toes and would chase my sister and I around the house with his feet, and they were nasty. I don't care if your feet are cute keep them away from me.

3. Most of you know I am 100% obsessed with Purdue athletics right? Well, I make my entire schedule around Purdue sports, being Football, and Basketball. I have had season tickets to football since I was 8(obviously my parents bought them then) and season basketball tickets since I was 6. I have recently dropped the basketball tickets just not enough time, I do still go to as many games as I can possibly get too with my schedule. My friends and family know that if Purdue is playing away and on tv not to call until the game is over, Nuttina will verify this. I don't care if people think it's too much or crazy they can get bent :) I missed my best friend's moms wedding because it was on the day of a Purdue game hahaha! Still paying for that one.

4. I was in my high school swing choir, and had major parts in every musical but my 8th and 10th grade years. Before you mock, swing choir was very popular at our HS, and at least 50 kids tried out almost every year for about 20 spots, it was very hard to make. Wendy, do you remember calling Katina a bitch into my lapel mic? haha! JAZZ HANDS

5. I am freakishly close to my family. I don't find it uncool and never did to do things with my family even when I was a teen. The way I was brought up it was often we would have big family get togethers at my grandma's and I guess it stuck. Although some serious strain has occured as of late with my aunt and uncle.

As always if you have any questions I will gladly answer them in the comments. Also anyone got any ideas of what I should write about?

Anyone watch the amazing race last night? I am sorry egan wasn't a fan of the ironman team, I liked her I guess but he was a jerk. My favorite teams are the Lesbian and her father, the model recoving addicts, and of course the cheerleaders! Not sure who will win yet should be a great season :)

Have a great day
Phats
PS if anyone knows what show the title of this post is from, gets extra credit. Steph you're DQ'd!

LETS GO BOILERS!

Ahh yes, it's Friday so that means another Friday Fire Up preview of the upcoming Purdue game. First lets take a look back shall we? Purdue defeated a Miami OH team that gave a great effort, before falling 38-31 in OT. Again even though it was a win it was WAY too close. Our young defense struggled and we lost another DB, which is our weakest position. We now have 2 true freshmen starting there. Folks to put it plain and simple we didn't play very well, but we won and that is all that matters right Egan? Looking back at my predictions I did quite well, as I was 6-0 and I only missed badly on the UAB win, it was a hell of a lot closer that's for sure. Moving onto this week.

Saturday at 1pm the Mighty Boilers will face the Ball State Cardinals, the alma mater of one mister David Letterman. It is also the alma mater of my sister and father(played QB there as well). Last week they lost a heartbreaker 24-23 to Indiana when their kicker missed a PAT(idiot). Last time we played BSU was two years ago when we trounced them 59-7 and the Purdue student section started chanting "Ball State High School" during the third quarter. I also remember the kids from Muncie not being too happy with us because we went for a 4th down in the first half with time winding down to go up 45-0. The Boilers are young and have struggled will this one be a different outcome??

NO! Quite simply I don't see BSU pulling off the upset for a couple of reasons. One, I think they are emotionally spent after barely falling to IU, and will come in flat. Also, we keep getting better and better and we get one of our better defensive players back this week which will help. I am hoping this will be the first game where our QB, Curtis Painter will put it all together and if that happens it will be a long day for Charlie Cardinal. I don't see their defense being able to stop us, but in the meantime they are a pass oriented team, so our young DB's will be tested yet again. Look for the Boilers to step up and stop the Cards early and often. BOILER UP!

Now onto some predictions.
Pillow Fight of the week
Southern Ill at Indiana- A powerhouse in their division will the Salukis be able to hang with the Hoosiers, answer is yes. However with IU coach Hep going in for emergency brain surgery IU pulls one out for the coach
IU 35 So. ILL 28
EDIT FINAL SCORE Southern Illinois 35 indiana 28 d'oh!

Blogger Friends teams
UAB vs Georgia- Sorry Kayla looks like UAB has another tough one, who the hell makes their schedule. I see a good first half effort but not enough to stay with the Dawgs, GO GEORGIA BULLDOGS! UGA 42 Uab 14
EDIT FINAL SCORE UGA 34 UAB 0 WOOHOO!(sorry kayla)

Washington vs Fresno- Egan, another tough test for UW, this will be a tough one, and unfortunately I don't like UW's chances. Give me another team with Bulldogs for their mascot
Fresno 31 UW 20
EDIT FINAL SCORE UW 21 Fresno 20 D'oh!

Texas Tech vs TCU - Gee Fuzz taking the world tour of Texas? This will be a good game I bet. TCU has to be up to beat a big 12 team, and is actually ranked higher. Although I see the Raiders pulling this one out, shocking the horned frogs in the final minutes.
Texas Tech 35 TCU 31
EDIT FINAL SCORE TCU 12 Texas Tech 3 D'oh!

Alabama vs UL Monroe- What Cheryl and Gary the girls scouts too busy to play the tide? haha :) The tide should ROLL early and ROLL often. ROLL TIDE!
Alabama 52 Monroe 21
EDIT FINAL SCORE Alabama 41 UL Monroe 7 WOOHOO!

Idaho vs Idaho State- Does the winner get a lifetime supply of potatoes shife? This might be the best shot for the Vandals to get a win, and since I don't know much about this rivalry, I am going with the upset. Vandals Win!
Idaho 21 Idaho State 14
EDIT FINAL SCORE Idaho 27 Idaho State 24 WOOHOO!

LSU vs Auburn- One of the bigger games of the week, doing this for Pissy! I have to admit I have a friend(well kind of) who went to Auburn and he is very arrogant so it turned me off to Auburn, and I have a good friend who went to Bama, and If I ever chose Auburn to win he'd punch me! So I must choose LSU in this one, but it will be close
LSU 28 Auburn 21
EDIT FINAL SCORE Auburn 7 LSU 3 D'oh!

Texas vs Rice- Another one for Gary geesh! I have to admit I am not a fan of Texas, and I am not sure why?? I do like Cat Osterman though does that score me some points? I was glad OSU won last week at least for the Big Ten! Texas will rebound, and rebound BIG time vs the overmatched Owls, Horns roll.
Texas 58 Rice 3
EDIT FINAL SCORE Texas 52 Rice 7 WOOHOO! (I was close)

Is there any show better then the Simpsons, I mean really?

Hello friends,
Not much going on here it's been a constant rain all day long here with some thunder and lightning as well. I got to take this morning off woohoo, to get blood work done d'oh! Yep it was time for my three month, hopefully everything will be fine, keeping fingers crossed. So, the good thing about rain is I get to cancel tennis practice yay! We couldn't practice today regardless because our Varsity is home and when that happens no court time. We played our first match last week, and Junior High is similar to varsity we play 1, 2, 3 singles, and 1 and 2 doubles. They play one set to 8, and then everyone else is considered exhibition playing to 4 no ad scoring. Anyway our girls kicked ass winning 4-1 we only lost at 1 singles, everyone else cruised to wins. Unfortunately our boys struggled but I saw that coming. It's better for me since I coach varsity girls anyway haha! Our next match is tomorrow providing the rain stays away.

Well, the Boilers pulled one out, and the collective phew's you heard about 4:15 Saturday was every Boiler fan in the country. We won 38-31 in OT, and had to sweat out a game winning field goal by Miami with 20 secs to go, luckily Anthony Spencer saved the day by blocking it! This would have been a devasting loss, and ironically it's turning out to be a HUGE win. In the past Purdue teams have had troubles winning close games, so even against a lowly team from the MAC we'll take it. Like my good friend Egan said a win is a win! We have Ball State Saturday, look for the preview again on Friday. BOILER UP!

I have started a new book by James Patterson four blind mice. It's pretty good it's another in his Alex Cross series if any of you are familiar with that. It's what I look for a quick read, and something you have a hard time putting down once you start. I ordered 12 books from my book club and they all got here the other day so that's exciting. I got a new Iris Johansen book, she is probably my new favorite author. My sister turned me onto her, and I can't put her books down. I haven't had as much time to read lately, but I try to set aside at least an hour before bed. I got to read in the waiting room today at the doctor too.

The new season of the Simpsons started yesterday and I just have to say it's the best show ever. It's in the 18th season now, and the creator, Matt Groening, said in an interview the other day that he sees no end insight which made me happy! Did anyone watch it last night? Lisa befriended the son of Mafia man Fat Tony. It was hysterical, featuring guest voices from the sopranos, and Metallica. I thought the ending to it was classic and was laughing hysterically. Staying with the Simpsons I bought the 8th season on DVD the other day, and it is one of my favorites, with tons of my favorite episodes. Most of you know I don't really dig movies, but I will be waiting in line to see the Simpsons movie when it comes out! I'll say it again best show ever!

I was right on with my US Open picks as both Federer and Sharapova won, and I had picked both of them. Going with Federer really wasn't too hard but Sharapova was a little more out on the line, especially with how well Henin-hardenne plays at majors. Of course the storyline was Agassi's farewell, and him in tears in his goodbye speech. Never was a fan, sorry won't really miss ya. Navratilova retired again and went out with a bang winning the mixed doubles title with Bob Bryan, good for her! Everyone wants to proclaim that Andy Roddick is back, but the question I have for those people is who did he beat on his run to the final? Nobody really but Hewitt who lets face it isn't exactly lighting the world on fire. I don't like Roddick he is a whiny bitch, who comes across very arrogant, and seems to always be handed a gift wrapped draw. This year is no exception, just that he took advantage of it, then got waxed in the final. Anyone else think he might be miffed that the greatest golfer of all time from the US was rooting for the swiss guy in the finals? haha :) Long way off til the Aussie Open :(

Well, that's really all I got today not much substance but didn't really have anything to write about. Everyone watch the big brother finale tonight, I predict Boogie wins 6-1. Janelle will win the jury vote as well, and she deserves it. Can't wait!

Enjoy your Tuesday

WE ARE......... PURDUE!!!

Well kids it's that time again for Purdue Friday Preview here on the good ole blog, sorry spy! I will try to keep it as painless as possible for you though. For those of you who don't know I love college football, obviously love my Purdue Boilermakers, BOILER UP! On Fridays I will be previewing the upcoming Saturday game, and making predictions, feel free to submit your predictions as well. So here goes! Oh yeah it's PURDUE not perdue SHANNON!!!

Purdue is coming off a 60-35 win over Indiana State, and this was very disappointing. I agree with Egan in that a win is a win, but this was a very disappointing win. It never should have been that close. We made a ton of first game mistakes that MUST be fixed before tomorrow. Mostly in the kicking game, having 2 punts blocked is never good. It's pretty much imperative that we win our first 4 games if we want any chance of going bowling. Mostly because after our 4th game the schedule gets incredibly difficult. Our opponent tomorrow is Miami (OH) the Redhawks out of the MAC. For those of you in the know, Big Ben of the Steelers played there. This is a very inexperienced team coming into Ross Ade, and they lost their first game like 28-3 to Northwestern, and NW was suppose to be down this year. So that bodes well for the Boilers. MAC teams are always dangerous though regardless of how good they are, they always want to go into the big stadiums and pull the stunner and are very capable of doing so. They pretty much have nothing to lose so you got to be on top of your game to win. This will be my first game of the season in attendance WOOHOO! I had to miss the ISU game because I was on vacaton. I can't wait, there is nothing better then gameday in college football. Breakfast Club, Tailgating, The All American Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and of course the awesome student section. This game isn't televised, but is on ESPN 360 and the kickoff is 1:00. I can't wait! :) I am so excited, I still get goosebumps when the AAMB runs in playing Hail Purdue! BTFU!

We got some good news/bad news this week as well. One of our Wide Receivers has been ruled academically ineligible for the season. This wasn't that big of a loss because we have alot of options at wide receiver, however the good news was big. One of our Safety's was FINALLY cleared to play by the NCAA clearinghouse! This was big because that is one position where we have struggled mightily. This is a big boost to the defense, moreso because we lost Safety Torri Williams last week to injury. I think the game might stay close for 1.5 quarters but won't be at the end, and hopefully see a totally different Purdue team. I think Purdue will really open it up this week and throw all over the field like in the Drew Brees days, and I don't see Miami being able to defend that. I hope that the defense we see tomorrow will be improved enough to stop Miami to get the ball back to our potent offense. If this happens the Boilers will roll. Alright on to some predictions.

Pillow fight of the week

Vacation

Well, as you all know by now I have returned from my last vacation for awhile and it was a good one! We decided, we being my mom, dad, sister, brother in law and I, to take my nephews twins that are 3 and a 2 yr old to walt disney world. For those of you who don't know my family pretty much lives there this was my 16 trip to the world according to the reservation people. I was a little worried about the trip because I wasn't sure how well the little ones would do, but they were awesome! We had such a great trip, and it was a ton of fun. So here are some highlights.

Plane trip
We flew southwest and the trip going was awesome our plane even landed early. I sat with my brother in law, and Tate(one of the twins) my mom and dad had Caden(the 2 yr old), and my sister had trey the other twin. They were very good on the plane! Which was surprising because last time we went with the twins they were 1 and Tate cried the whole way. This time they colored, watched out the window, and played with sticker books. After arriving in Orlando we had to wait for our Disney Magic Express bus to pick us up then it was off to Disney World!

Every time we go to Disney we stay on Disney Grounds, and this time we stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort, it's a nice hotel that is divided into islands, we stayed on Martinque. Each Island had their own private pool as well as the main pool so that was nice, as well as your own private beach. The boys loved the beach! Then we hit Magic Kingdom for our first park! Unfortunately it didn't start out great for Tate, as he was really scared after getting off Jungle Cruise, it was hard to convince him those plastic animals we saw weren't real. Obviously then we had to try and pick attractions that didn't have animals for Tate. Their favorite attraction at Magic Kingdom was Buzz Lightyear's space ranger ride. Where you go around and shoot Zorg! It was pretty cool, I got a score of 38,000 for my high. Not very good though :( They loved Magic Kingdom so obviously we went back many times during our stay. We also spent tons of money on Buzz Lightyear toys, Trey wanted Zorg to get his own seat on the plane ride home.

Probably the highlight of the trip for the boys anyway was at EPCOT when we did the Living Seas. They love fish and Finding Nemo, and well most of you know I have a MAJOR fear of fish, but I sucked it up and went in. After being surrounded by the enclosed aquariums, I freaked out a tad and chose to wait in the lobby haha!! The boys though loved it and we were lucky to be there right at feeding time, so they got to see how the fish were fed there. They kept saying there goes Nemo, dory, bloat, crush, etc etc. Needless to say plenty of money was spent in that gift shop as well. My mom, dad, and I went out one night on our own and hit EPCOT and did all the fun attractions, and watched illuminations which is really cool! That's the nice thing about staying at a Disney resort each night one of the parks stays open later for resort guests. We also did a character lunch at EPCOT, and Trey was in heaven because he loves the characters, we saw Chip, Dale, Pluto, and Mickey!

My brother in law, and I got a day to go to do the fun thrill rides, and obviously we hit tower of terror, and the roller coaster at MGM, as well as test track at EPCOT. I could not talk him into riding Mission Space the big wimp! He freaked me out a little on Tower of Terror, which is a free fall ride, because he was like really nervous on the ride, I have never seen him like that. We had a good time, and I think it was good for him to get a break as well. The day we hit Animal Kingdom they let us ride the new roller coaster there, and it was awesome! We got chased by a Yeti. My dad and I also caught the Lion King show there, it's so good! Going home we got stuck in a downpour and got soaked!

Plane ride home wasn't too bad. We were delayed 20 mins but it seemed to be a much quicker flight then the one going. This time I sat the with Trey, and my dad. The boys were very particular on where everyone was to sit and I had strict orders to sit with trey. It was a great trip, lots of more stuff happened but this is already too long :) Back to work for me! I totally need a vacation from my vacation.

BTW the purdue score was 60-35 Boilers win! Boiler Nation is in a state of panic though because it was too close. I hope it was just first game jitters, and I think I am glad I missed this game. Although would have been cool to see the throw back uniforms. I will be there this Sat though when we take on Miami OH! GO BOILERS! :)

Have a great Humpday!

Hi everyone, I am back

Just letting everyone know I made it home safely from my vacation to the magic kingdom. After chasing three nephews ages 3(twins) and 2, I need a vacation from my vacation! I am really tired so I am going to bed, and I promise to get around to all your blogs first chance I get.

Couple of quick updates
Grandma- Is doing well, went to see the doctor who did the surgery and he was very happy. and took out her staples. She has gone to church, and out to eat with family and is doing well. She is ready to be done with therapy but that's going to be awhile, even for a young buck it'd be awhile. Thank you all for your concern, I think things are on an upward swing now!

PURDUE WON!!! YAY! 1-0 baby. Congrats to Cheryl and Gary's Crimson Tide as well, as they won too ROLL TIDE! My brother-in-law has some access to the net on his phone and was giving me updates to the Purdue game on our trip.

I am off to bed! Work tomorrow morning YUCK!
