Hodge Podge
I don't really have anything to blog about but I haven't updated in awhile, so I figured why not fill you in on what's going on in my life. I am sure you are all just dying to know.
My summer vacation started this past Friday at 6pm as that is when my summer job ended WOOHOO!! The sad part is school starts back up in like 3 weeks. I am finding though and I always do this, I can't have too much time off or I go stir crazy. In the time I have been off I have read 4 books, lounged in the pool, caught up on DVR'd shows, and packed for vacation(more on that later) For those that don't know my summer job is teaching tennis for the city and it lasts 6 weeks. It's a pretty good gig, pays well, but the last week this year was BRUTAL!! Like most of the country we were just starting our heatwave, I was outside for four hours in the middle of a heat warning. Friday was the worst, partly because it was the last day so it went by slow, but also because by 9:20(I start at 9) I had already soaked through my tshirt with my sweat. Thankfully I was able to come home and jump right into the pool to cool off. I don't mind the heat, but this stuff lately was not fun to be in teaching, and it made the kids GROUCHY!!!
We are getting ready for our big Disney Vacation 8 days in the most magical place on earth. I am looking forward to it, but I am sure everyone understands when I say getting there is the most stressful part. I started packing today, and after shopping the other day now I have too many outfits, and not sure what all I want to take. I am proud to say that after I do laundry tomorrow I will be all ready to finish packing and be ready to go. If you don't know I love freaking love Disney, I don't think you're ever too old to go there and make memories. My sister's in laws are going and this is their first time, and to me that's part of the fun seeing people experience the magic for the first time. Yes, I know I sound corny, but I don't care I love Disney!! haha :)
This time last week my relatives that had come in from Georgia were all heading home, and I love when they visit, but I also love when they leave. I think most of you know my grandma is not in good shape, she has dementia and is in a memory care unit. The relatives from Georgia come every couple of months to see her because who knows how much longer she will hold on. What I find comical is, the trip is suppose to be to visit with my grandma. Yet, they probably spent 2 hrs total out of the 5 days they were here with her. I don't know I try to go at least twice a week to see her I just hope that when something does happen they don't regret it. Speaking of my Grandma, part of the fun in visiting her is seeing all the other residents it's not funny but it is, you could almost write a book or make it a tv series with all the antics that go on in that kind of unit.
Getting closer to college football season!! Let me just say great for the NFL to be back, but seriously don't really care for me college football is where it's at. You can't beat the college game, the atmosphere, the crazed fans, the tailgating it's the best!! Purdue has a somewhat challenging schedule, we open this year with Middle Tennessee State at home, the highlight though of our non conference schedule is Notre Dame which is a night game. With breakfast club starting bright and early that morning you can gurentee the students will be blasted by kickoff. I plan on doing guest pickers again so start lining up, hoping I can count on you all again :)
Did you know that the Simpsons will air their 500th episode on Feb 19th 2012. That's pretty damn impressive it has long been one of my favorites I have every season on DVD. When I am home I will still catch reruns on Fox59 from 6-7 Long live the wonderful yellow family!
There ya go, an update from Phats, hope you enjoyed it
