On the upswing

AHHHH
I have been pretty sick this past week, no nothing life threatening just the flu. Although at times it felt life threatening. Last week I started coughing and thought here we go, but it got a lot worse than just a cough. Monday night was laying down on the couch watching TV and I started just burning up on my head, but had the chills everywhere else, and then it happened the barfing started! I threw up probably 10 times, and promptly went to bed. Obviously called into work the next day(tuesday) and pretty much slept the entire day. So, stupidly since the puking had ended I tried to work Wednesday, and by the end of it I felt like I was on death's door, so took a half day Thursday to rest some more. Finally, I am on the upswing just a nagging cough and a crazy sounding voice but I think I am back to my old self again.

I feel bad that I haven't blogged, or visited blogs lately so since it's a new month I have decided to make a great effort in blogging more. I just haven't really had anything too exciting to write about, especially since some of you don't like sports all the time. So you have my promise to be a better a blogger from now on!

I was trying to think of good things to talk about, and one of my favorite things is obviously TV.
American Idol- OK so who is watching? Of course we are here!! Love it, I know some people don't like the early auditions but I love them they make me laugh, and just think if we don't get those we miss out on Pants on the ground! My problem is I have a hard time remember the good people when it gets to Hollywood week, which I believe is coming I can't wait. I also love how everyone likes to rip on Idol, and try to bring it down by saying things like it's starting to fall blah blah. Uhh if 30 million viewers is a downfall, I think Fox Broadcasting will gladly take that. So far the women seem to be more impressive than the men, but we'll see. I am glad they are going back to the old format in the semi finals of 12 girls and 12 guys until they have 6 of each left. You get to see them and get to know them a lot better that way. I am also anxious to see how Ellen does when she finally starts during Hollywood week, for the guest judges so far loved Kristin Chenoweth, and Neil Patrick Harris they were awesome.

The new Amazing Race begins Feb 14th, can't wait for that, that is probably one of my all time favorite shows and would love to run it sometime. Apparently Jeff and Jordan from Big Brother are on this edition, which will be great, because I loved them on Big Brother and will add some comic relief since she's well kind of an airhead. It will be interesting to see how they do.

Here's what I hate about TV why do shows take weird times off? Our new favorite show, and one of the best shows on TV is Glee, yet it's done until April. THAT SUCKS! For those of you not watching this show you really should check it out, it's pretty much AWESOME. It's on Wednesdays at 9 provided fox keeps it there when it comes back in April. Right now it's riding a high of winning best comedy at both the Golden Globes, and SAG awards, so hopefully this break hasn't hurt it, and the music is amazing.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN
I love the Aussie Open mostly because it's a tough major because of the elements, who can play in the heat and not wilt? Anyway it was great to see Roger Federer my all time favorite player win yet another grand slam title, beating someone who I feel it's just a matter of time before he nabs one in Andy Murray. On the womens side, sure I am not a HUGE Serena fan, but for the USA I am glad she won, plus I have never liked Henin. I don't know something about her, maybe it's all the illegal coaching she gets, or her hand incident with Serena at the French Open a few years back, just don't dig her. Love Kim Clijsters though, but man she took a BEATING down under. Now a few months til Paris can Roger defend at Roland Garros. Also I love the Aussie Open, but I can't stay up til 3:30 am to watch the final, sorry thank you Tennis Channel for replaying it all day!

SUPER BOWL
Anyone got big plans for the big game? Hopefully you're all cheering for the New Orleans Saints, WHO DAT! My boy Drew Brees is going to tear up the Colts secondary all day long. It's funny I live in Indiana, and I am NOT a colts fan. I don't like Peyton Manning, I don't believe he walks on water like most people here do. My sister called me a hater for cheering on the Saints, but technically Indianapolis is not my home team, because I do not live in Indianapolis! So I hope you all root really hard for the Saints, plus how cool would it be for the city of New Orleans to win this thing?!

FINALLY
The NCAA tournament is coming up, I really hope I can count on some of you again to play in my annual bracket challenge. I know I have been MIA from blogger lately, so hopefully you'll remember me and take a few minutes and do it :) You can ask everyone who has won I give out cool prizes haha.

That's all I got have a great week

Yep, a little busy

Hey guys!
I am alive, rumors of my death have been grossly exaggerated, I have just been busy.

So a quick update is all you're getting here tonight. Late last week I heard on the radio about a traffic accident down south, and it was a local man who was killed, and I was still waking up so I didn't really connect the name until I got the call from my sister. Her very close friend from high school, and basically was like a brother to me since he was at our house all the time(5 years difference between my sister and I) his dad was the one killed. It's really odd because we had all just been out with him, so to hear this news was just shocking. Anyway, my sister decided to drive into town(it's about an hour) on Saturday, and she organized a get together for people at BW3's, and we stumbled in at 4:30am WOW still paying for that let me tell you, but not as much as my sister who was vomiting most of the night haha. Anywho it was good for Dannie there was TONS of laughter, TONS of tears, and I think some healing. So this is how crazy my sister is she drove back home Sunday, only to drive back up on Monday for the viewing, stayed for the whole viewing, drove back home(on pretty crappy roads), and drove back up Tuesday for the funeral. That was a lot of trips! So, all of that mess is behind us and Wednesday we both get the same call from my aunt "Now don't worry, everything is alright" is it just me or does your mind race when you hear that? Anyway, immediately I figured my grandma had fallen again or something, but it was my mother she fell at school(teacher too) in a wet spot, and broke her wrist. So, my sister met me at the Hospital making that YET another trip. Thank God my mom didn't need surgery, she doesn't really do doctors and such. It's a broken wrist in a cast for 6 weeks, and the cast is Hot Pink! ha! So, once we saw everything was pretty much OK we let out another sigh. I sometimes want to say what next, but that worries me then what will happen.

Saturday I am heading out with friends to do some good old fashion karaoke! Bekah wanna go, but if you go you have to sing :) Any requests?

Everyone have a great weekend.
Oh yeah my picks for the NFL
Saints over Cardinals(Sorry Shife) WHO DAT!
Vikings over Cowgirls
Chargers over Jets
Ravens over Colts(I don't like the Colts, this won't happen but it'd be funny)

Well 2010 has certainly started off great

First off hope everyone had a great holiday, and a Merry Christmas. If you didn't see already I gave some of you gifts don't make me take them back though! I had a great Christmas, got tons of clothes, books, DVD sets, and CD's just what I wanted. Phats is happy. The worst part about Christmas is the day after when it's over and you realize no more gifts, and your break from work is almost done, how bad is that? Sometimes I am ready to go back to work boy I sure am not ready this year I think that's a bad thing who knows, I still have 2 days and I am going to be lazy and enjoy them.

I don't think I could have asked for a better start to 2010 sports wise. My Purdue Boilermakers ranked #4 in the country took on fellow undefeated and #6 ranked West Virginia at Mackey Arena today and what a game! The Boilers not only won they won convincingly trouncing the #6 ranked team in the country, the final score was 77-62, however before we shut it down we were up by 25 pts. Now I am a diehard and I never expected that, I expected to win but WOW that was fun. I was fortunate to be there in attendance, and let me just say I have witnessed Mackey rocking, but holy cow was it rocking it today, and oddly enough(and totally fitting) the roof blew off the joint in the first half over a DEFENSIVE play when our star Junior Robbie Hummel forced a 5 second call, I still get goosebumps thinking about it. So we now stand 13-0 and we have 2 wins over teams that were in the top 10 when we played them. Next up we go back into conference play and take on a talented Minnesota team at Mackey on Tuesday, and I for one can't wait. Bring on whoever we'll take on anyone!

College football is almost officially over, and today was a big game. I missed most of the games and that sucks because there were some really good ones, but I have been watching highlights. First off you Big Ten Bashers WHAT NOW!? YA that's what I thought, OSU gets a great win over Oregon, PSU beats supposed power conference team LSU in the mud, Northwestern should have won but their kicker got hurt. I am proud of the Big Ten, and I think Iowa will win as well since the ACC is awful. Although I do owe Topolk and the ACC an apology I said they were the worst conference, I think the cellar resident is now the Big East, Holy Cow what happened to those teams, don't get me wrong though the ACC still sucks. Want to say good luck to Cheryl for the big game Thursday and a ROLL TIDE!

That's really all I have, I am tired first from a late night on New Year's Eve, and then we went out to night after the game I am thinking sleeping in for sure tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great and safe holiday, and got everything you wanted!
