So, did you all miss me? I wanted to come back and let everyone know you still have til June 5th to shop for my birthday! I love my birthday haha I don't even care about how old I am getting.
Alright catch you all up on some things that have gone on in the life of Phats lately. My hair was dyed green last week, yes GREEN. If you know me you know I am very metro and I probably use more product than my wife, but I made a promise and I kept it. Here's how it went down, Saturday May 23rd might have been the greatest day of my entire life and I am not exaggerating. As most of you know I coach HS girls tennis, and this program where I coach has been the doormat basically since it's existence, but last year we started to change that with the schools first ever winning season going 11-4, but losing in sectionals to the big school in the first round. Well this year we finally did it we WON sectionals!! Winning the championship 4-1 and finally getting to hoist that beautiful trophy in the air. When the season started I knew we were going to be good again, and I promised the girls if we won sectionals i'd dye my hair green. Well, Tuesday at the pep session before we left for Regionals the girls dyed my hair green, Bekah has seen the pics she knows I am telling the truth. Oh that was the greatest day ever, but also the most nerve wracking day of my life it was like a roller coaster up and down, up and down. To win the thing we had to beat the 9 time reigning champions in the finals. My little phenom at 1 singles won 6-0, 6-0 to put us up 1-0, and then my three player came off with a 6-4, 6-2 win to give us a 2-0 lead all we needed was 1 more pt of course it wouldn't come easy. Our opponents took the 1 doubles to make it 2-1 and at that time 2 singles and 2 doubles for us had both lost their first sets, and our 2 doubles trailed the second set 5-2, one more game and it was 2-2 in the team match. Somehow those two though fought all the way back and won set 2 in a tiebreaker, and at the same time my 2 singles girl won her second set we needed one set to win the title. As they took the court to start their third sets but the 2 singles and 2 doubles team went up 3-0, and I started to feel better my stomach stopped doing back flips, and then it happened 2 doubles won their match and the celebration ensued! I don't care how sappy or stupid this sounds but when we won I literally had a lump in my throat and was starting to worry i'd be a blubbering baby when interviewed by the paper and radio, thank God I held it in! So much hard work went into this and we had never won a tennis sectional(boys or girls) in school history! It was so great, I also promised that if we won i'd tumble on the courts, and nobody let me forget that. So I did a back flip. What a great day, great season. We lost in the Regionals on Tuesday but we took that next step, and only losing 1 Senior, and starting 6 Sophomores we're in good shape for next year. My 1 singles player moved to 20-0 and will play again this Saturday in the individual tournament so the journey isn't exactly over, i'll keep ya updated.
I feel like I haven't blogged in forever so much has happened. We have a new American Idol, a new Dancing with the stars winner, and one of my favorite reality shows So you think you can dance has started.
American Idol- I could not have been happier with the outcome this year, both Kristen and I voted our asses off for Kris, so I was glad to see it paid off. Whether you like the show or not you have to admit their finales are awesome. I mean Kiss, Queen, Keith Urban, Cyndi Lauper, Santana, Fergie, Black Eyed Peas, and Queen Latifah, oh yeah and Steve Martin! haha. I am sure both young men will be successful, I just liked Kris better. I didn't even know Black Eyed Peas were back together D'oh!
Dancing With the Stars- My reality week went so well that week because Shawn Johnson won, I love her! I think the fact that she kept getting second at the olympics made me think she'd get second here, so glad that tool Gilles didn't win. I can't stand Cheryl Burke someone needs to tell her she's not the star. I will admit both Kristen and I this season got bored very easily with the cast, we usually watched Shawn, and Ty Murray who was freaking hilarious.
Anyone watching that show I'm a celebrity get me out of here? I think someone needs to send them a memo that they have no celebs on there and should change the title. Who knew Sanjaya was such a freak though he downed that intestines milkshake, and then swallowed the tail whole NASTY. I am secretly hoping some wild animal will eat, kill, strangle, whatever speidi.
We watched the sneak peek of Glee on Fox, it looks really good. Loved the version of Don't stop believing at the end that was awesome. I was in show choir, yes I can admit that but it was the cool thing to do at our school, we were never referred to as "gleeks" You all should give it a try this fall when it returns. Also, I don't believe a HS choir would ever be allowed to sing Rehab haha but that was pretty awesome too.
Well, I feel like I wrote a lot, we're currently under a thunderstorm watch, the weather here has been shitty lately. Tornadoes, bad thunderstorms, power keeps flickering, so I am going to wind this down. Not much longer til college football starts!!
