It's my birthday week

First off June 5th, this Saturday is my birthday and while I haven't blogged much or visited blogs recently I expect a visit from all of you with a birthday wish that day or I will cry!!! If you want my name and address I will give it to you if you want to send money, gifts, cheryl some cupcakes! haha. Hopefully you all know I am joshing, kind of.

So, what has been going on in Phats World well ALOT!

First off, I think most of you know I am a varsity girls tennis coach, if not now you do. Our season just concluded with mixed results. Last year we won the schools first ever sectional(our first step of our state tournament) tennis title in school history and we only graduated one girl out of 7 so expectations were SKY HIGH, and I think that got to the girls. Anyway, our regular season was just so so, like a lot of sports teams we hit a wall, and seem to hit it head on going 80 mph, unfortunately it was right before the Sectional was to start. My assistant and I were really worried because we just weren't playing well going into the tournament and weren't sure what would happen. We opened with a pretty bad team and beat them 4-0, they stopped the 5th point with us up 5-2 40-0 because of rain, so we moved on to the semi-finals. They got rained out on Friday so that meant playing the semi's at ten and if we won the championship at 2pm. We played a team that had beaten us in the regular season, 3-2 and none of the three matches we lost were close so I was REALLY worried especially with how we were playing, but like they always do this group shocked the hell out of me and played AMAZING! We got revenge winning 4-1 only dropping #1 Doubles in three grueling sets to a team that was undefeated on the year. After that match we had to regroup quickly, we had 2 matches go 3 sets, another long two setter and the jackass coach from the team we were to play wanted to start at 1. Well here is the story we finished our semi against the sectional co favorite at 12:15 he finished his semi at 10:50. YA! I was like NO 2pm we're going to get lunch see you at 1:30 for our warm up. Again the girls played so well and left it all on the court but we couldn't quite get that third point losing 3-2. It came down to #3 Singles she lost 7-5, 5-7, 3-6 it was frustrating because she had 2 match pts in set 2 but couldn't close it. I told the girls I have never been more proud to be their coach after such a gutsy effort, we just ran out of gas. We don't graduate anyone from our varsity so watch out for us next year!

My grandma is another "thing" going on. She's not doing well I believe I wrote about her before but she has either dementia or Alzheimer's. It's to the point where my mom and uncle are literally killing themselves taking care of her. One of them gets her meals, sets up her tv, takes cares of her medicines, and gets her situated for the night. We have a Senior Sitter that comes in during the day but that only helps so much. Anyway they have decided it's time to move her into a retirement home, although in front of her we are calling it an apartment. They are actually really nice, I mean I would live there! haha. Anyway, she moves in on my birthday yes Happy Birthday Phats, your grandma is royally pissed. But it had to happen, the other day it was 96 degrees outside here and my mom went by there to take her lunch, and she had the heat up as high as it would go, and my mom could barely wake her. Hopefully this goes smooth, but we'll see! Keep your fingers crossed. I just hope my mom and and uncle get some rest out of this now.

Almost moved to Florida. We seriously considered it, but at the last moment chose to stay put, but we might revisit this issue next year at this time, especially if we have another harsh winter. I think it would be hard being away from Purdue athletics, but i'd get a good cable package!

So, you're pretty much caught up on the life of Phats. Remember JUNE 5th don't forget!

Phew

Wow I haven't written here in a long time now have I? To those who still read this blog, anyone anyone, I apologize. Right now is my busy time with school ending and our tennis season winding down. Once season ends I will back and writing more I promise, as well as visiting your blogs all soon.

So, what's happening around my neck of the woods. First off Boilermaker fans everywhere took a HUGE sigh of relief on Saturday. Both Juniors E'Twaun Moore, and JaJaun Johnson put their name in the NBA draft without hiring an agent meaning the could return to Purdue. All along Moore said he was just getting feedback and would be back as a Boiler, but Johnson nobody knew what he'd do. Well it was being reported all week JJ was going to enter the NBA, so when it was announced both would be returning for their Senior years I was jumping up and down with excitement. Now we can actually start talking about the 2011 Final Four!! This year we just have to manage to stay healthy is all. Also football is starting soon, can you believe Purdue's first game this year is at Notre Dame talk about tough openers. I will need guest pickers again hope I get some volunteers.

Who watched SNL with Betty White? How great was she?? I love her what an icon it was great to see at 88 yrs old she was asked to host, kudos to her. It was nice to see some of the best female cast members return as well, always been a fan of Tina Fey.

Well, just wanted to give you an update of what's going on and where I have been. We have 3 matches left, then we will try and defend our sectional title. I am definitely starting to get nervous for that wish us luck! I will be getting around to all your blogs sometime this week, but now I am going to bed.
