How I spent my summer vacation....... WORKING MY ASS OFF

Hello bloggers
People visiting this blog seem to be less and less due to lack of updates, but I wanted to top last year's July total. Last year I blogged a grand total of 1 time in July, so hey I am ahead of schedule. You should all be glad I am blogging, as soon as I finish this I am going to jump into the pool for a bit, or lay on a raft and read.

Can you believe summer is over already?! On one hand I am excited because it means college football season will be starting, on the other hand it means back to school, and considering I just started my summer vacation that's not cool! Here is how I spent my summer vacation first week out I put on my party planning hat, we had our Spring Sports Banquet, a dinner, an overnighter, and my #1 singles player was still playing in the individual tournament. The next week my summer camp started at the High School and ran for a week, and after that I started my summer job. Sure the hours weren't too bad 9am -- 1pm and 5pm - 6pm, but when it was 99 degrees that is harsh conditions, luckily we have had a cool July. Anyway teaching for the parks ended last week so now I am officially off for about 15 days woohoo go me! I plan on catching up on some of my reading, I just finished a great book called "midnight voices" by John Saul, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, and then I started a new book called "Final Scream" by Lisa Jackson, and I am 300 pages in and I am having trouble putting it down. The only other thing I have planned before going back we are going on a family trip to Great Wolf Lodge and Kings Island. I am excited for that I love roller coasters, and Kings Island got a new one called Diamondback, here's a picture doesn't it look awesome. So anyone watching Big Brother?? Talk about making this season even more catty they divided them up into four cliques of Populars, Athletes, Brains, and yes Offbeats. How would you feel being put on the offbeat team. Anyway, it's almost worked out just like HS the athletes are ruling the house and of course they have the meatheads on their team, although unlike high school the populars are left with one team members.
Also watching So you think you can dance, and boy Katie Holmes is taking a lot of shit for her appearance on the 100th episode, not only did she lip sync it, it wasn't live, and she barely danced. Then after people criticized it the executive producer shot back calling those people ignorant. Not sure that's the best thing to do to your viewers Nigel.

Well, I am heading to the pool it's a great day for swimming! Everyone have a great week.

I haven't blogged in awhile hmm

Hello Bloggers,
I definitely have to say I have slacked in the blogging department and I apologize for this. I have come to realize people stop reading your blog when you don't update that's not good! I will say I was never a big fan of twitter, and I really still don't get it, but I like that I can just put one sentence and be done. Again, if any of you are on twitter and want to follow me look up phats_blog_email@yahoo.com and you should find me.

I am getting really excited for football season anyone else?? I know we might suck and we have a very tough non conference schedule, but I am looking forward to seeing what the new coach, Coach Hope brings to the table. He's already doing great in recruiting, we got a transfer in a starting QB from Miami Fla but he won't be eligible til next year since he has to sit out a year. How are your teams looking? I am putting the jinx on early for Cheryl and Gary's Crimson Tide as they are my preseason favorite, we'll see though. Here's a little clip, that I thought was an awesome one of Purdue bowl highlights over the years, I know none of you will probably watch but enjoy regardless. I was on the sidelines for BOTH Alamo Bowls, and the Rose Bowl in these highlights.

The other big Purdue news the non conference schedule for the upcoming basketball season was released today, and the anticipation is HIGH as we will probably be a top ten team to start the season, since we return our starting 5, and bring in another stellar recruiting class. Some of the highlights on the schedule are
Dec 1st Wake Forest at home in the Big Ten/ACC challenge of course this was a better match up before Teague went pro. We wanted Clemson but word is they were too scared to play us

Dec 12th at Alabama this is a big game because it's Gary and Cheryl's team no offense but Bama has exactly been great in basketball, but I am nervous for this one because i'll never heard the end of it if we lose. haha

Paradise Jam- Playing South Dakota State, Boston College, and Tennessee if we win the first two, that should be great competition!

a TBD opponent in the wooden tradition which ought to be a good team usually is

And a New Year's Eve encounter with West Virginia.
Pretty tough schedule but should get us ready for one of the toughest big ten seasons in years and a good tournament run.

I hate to be all sports, but did anyone watch Wimbledon?! What a final for the second straight year. It's no secret on here that I don't like Andy Roddick, but I tip my hat to him for playing one hell of a match against the Greatest Of All Time Roger Federer. Federer beat him 16-14 in the 5th set that seemed like it might go on forever, and it looked like Roddick might cry in the end. I can't tell if it's encouraging to be so close for him, or discouraging to play the match of your life and still lose. Federer by winning became the all time leader in grand slam titles with 15 passing the great Pete Sampras who was in attendance. It was great to see tennis played so well on a such a big stage. The womens final was less dramatic as Serena beat big sister Venus to win another slam herself. US Open starts in August, Federer will look to take 3 of 4 slams this year, who was saying he was done? Yeah those jackasses at ESPN!

Finally, my summer guilty pleasure starts Thursday, Big Brother! I hear they are dividing the houseguests up into 4 groups of HS cattiness of Nerds, Jocks, Populars, and Unpopulars. I wonder if there will be a rumble like in the Outsiders! Can't wait, I am also watching So you think you can dance, if you aren't you missing out. It leaves all the other dancing shows in the dust, even with that nut job Mary Murphy!

Oh yeah! Our county fair starts this coming week WOOHOO! Time to get some good eats, deep fried oreos, snickers, and reese cups, elephant ears, candy apples, and of course the WHOLE reason to go to the fair Hodson's Fudge, CAN'T WAIT! Anyone want to go :)

have a good one
